The fact that this has never been officially released is proof that Prince is officially NUTS... It's an epic masterpiece

I like the song, but it goes on a bit and gets a bit tedious towards the end before it kicks back in.

This is one of my absolute favorites. The middle section is a bit overlong, but then it comes back and just kicks my ass. I love that ending!

Wonderful song !!

Prince - please don't "revisit" it to give us a "reloaded" or 2014/15 version - just release it in 2 forms - 1) as it is !!

- 2) an edited version - removing part of the middle section but retaining the quirkier parts such as Wendy & Lisa painting the side of the train, Prince saying "mary me today..." and the steam train's whistle blowing, parts of the bass and keybaord playing.

Please, thank you etc your Purple Majesty-ness !!

Not lame at ALL! It does have a "Great Gatsby" feel to it.

When I say 'revisit' I didn't just mean record a newer version (which I would like to hear) I was also referring to playing it live as well. Who wouldn't want that? Plus, you already have the existing version, maybe not to the quality you'd prefer, but still, how would a newer recording hurt that. Not all fans are 80's hardcore fans that only want the original. I like you would prefer the original as well, but seeing how he hates the past (except for the fame it brought him) this is probably the most likely scenario. Either way, he won't do either so it doesn't really matter. In the end we agree, it's a Wonderful song smile

If I was Prince I'd want to beat the hell out of you with a stick for daring telling me such a thing!

I'm a creative person myself and I can tell u from experience: there nothing more irritating than having people popping out of nowhere and telling u how you should change your work in such or such way and it's even worse when they start going into details the way you just did because you usually perceive them as being completely clueless. Sometimes u wish to have the opinion of respected peers, sometimes u can enjoy constructive criticism from people u think have a good "eye", but un-asked for advices such as the one u just gave Prince are usually what makes you want to keep all yours stuff for yourself and think the world doesn't deserve you sharing it lol

No offense meant, it's not against you, I'd have said the same thing to anyone saying what u just said wink

Peace smile

Genius!

A F**king masterpiece

Its got to be in the top 10 of best outtakes

Africa, Cap'n Crunch, Norma Jean, sex and Cheerio's headbang

DOUBLE fishslap fishslap to any edits!
It would not be epic with out the mid portion, I love how it builds back up near the end

And the ending

All my dreams, all my dreams
Goodness will guide us if love is inside us
The colors are brighter, the bond is much tighter
You know no child's a failure
Until the blue sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't ever lose, don't ever lose
Don't ever lose your dreams
Yeah

touched

Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow
I will take my place, In the great below

Oh funk off dtatabank and get a grip !
I love the song and like others had said it would be cool to have a slightly edited version as well as his initial creation - just like he would do when editing an album track for a single or extending for a 12" remix .
Ffs !

I like the middle song far much more than the melodic parts of it. I like it when Prince makes really happy-sounding music, a lot, but this one doesn't do it for me. I remember when I first heard this track back in the day on a traded tape I thought it was a fake, because the melody just sounded so different from anything else by him that I had heard so far (I think "All My Dreams" might have been the first track on the second outtake collection I ever got though).

Which part of "if I was Prince" and "no offense" didn't u get? I was criticizing the idea from an artist's point of view, not you as the person expressing it wink

Besides - but that's just me - I don't understand the need for an edit in that case: for one thing the song doesn't fit a typical pop song pattern that would justify edit vs. extended part, and besides 7'' edits were generally made to fit either the lenght of a 7'' or even more the short attention span radio stations attributed to their listeners, demanding short songs to play to them. They were never motivated by artistic reasons nor meant to be targeted at fans who'd be happy to enjoy the longer, album version. Of course some songs were themselves edited for the albums because Prince felt they were unnecessarely long or the need to make them fit in a 45 minutes long record, but All My Dreams, in both Parade and Dream Factory, was intended to be featured in its entirety because, obviously, Prince felt it was its natural, organic form. Of course it may have become a single in which case it may have been edited. But in the context of an archives program that would be targeted to fans only, I'm sincerely puzzled by the idea that an edit might be a necessity. I'm not trying to argue with u here, just expressing a different opinion, u're entitled to yours but I'm entitled to being puzzled by it as well smile

Although I do actually really love this song the middle bit does go on a bit, my favourite part is the melodic tune part so I would take it an edited form. Any form at all would be good.

I love this song, it's just the right side of psychedelic to maintain some structure. It's songs like this, the legacy, that will keep me a Prince fan until the end...a man who creates this kind of music deserves my respect. I just don't get how a man who wrote this song can also write mince like 'Chocolate Box'. What gives?

It's somewhat of a of a 20's pastiche, almost a parody, which keeps it from being one of his best works. The middle part goes on for a bit to long, but at the same time the middle section creates a nice contrast to the sweeping end.

The wooh is on the one!
