Hey, wait! I'm over 40!! D'oh! doh!

That said, I was just at Best Buy picking up a MP3 player for my 8yr old nephew for Christmas. I was surprised they had portable CD players with headphones but I was SHOCKED they had walkman-style portable cassette players too!! I guess Guardians Of The Galaxy is bringing 'em back?!?

eek

I consider myself more than a casual fan but I'm not very tech savvy so I only have minimal amounts of unreleased music. I'd absolutely love someone to make me something up (in any format), I'd say share biggrin

Hell yeah! for those into musicanship. I show them the 14 minute Compute Blue. Usually wins them over.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I share them all the time. I am glad to share the demos and live stuff. I wish more people on here did the same as it is so hard to find the newer stuff. I will share with anyone and am always giving stuff away to people who are interested. They really like the live stuff. The demo stuff I find that most casual fans are not that blown away on. Live on the other hand they are usually impressed and I get all of the time that they did not know he could play guitat that well. I have better luck playing more obscure album stuff and getting a response than the unreleased demos. I always get a great response to the Chaos and Disorder album and The Rainbow Children album which I know are two of his most hated albums on the org but it usually goes over great with casuals that come in the store. These albums could have really done well if given a chance. Usually I have a mix of various stuff for people to sample but these two albums kind of stand on their own with people outside the die hard world. Kind of weird I know!!

Shockedelicus

If I'm putting together a Best Of for someone who isn't super into Prince, there's a 99% chance that Moonbeam Levels and a heavy dose of extended cuts are on there. I feel like some songs are so popular, there's as good as released, and the longest versions are pretty much always better than the others.

I consider myself a mostly casual fan and there are unreleased tracks I love.

Personally I dont go out my way to share unrealsed tracks, Though i may indicated that i have tons of the stuff

I've meet and known people who say that are BIG fans! and im sure they are in their own minds,
But they are clueless to some offical albums, B-sides yet any outtakes, this should be a big indicator
I doubt a casual fan would appreciate or even know you are playing an extended, rare, remix, unreleased, alt tracks

Databank stated Quality nod
If you are going turn someone on to outakes don't play the shity sounding stuff, you may turn them off instantly

But seeing you want to share hmmm
Test the waters. Tell them you got unrealsed stuff and gauge their interest, maybe play a few songs
It might spark a conversation or could go nowhere really fast lol
Maybe burn them a cd

eek

Burning CD's is soooo 90's lol lol

U know people now copy audio files on pendrives, don'tcha?

razz

Not to sound all 90's but what the hell is a pendrive?! And before you ask I'm in my 30's not 60's, but if it doesn't come on cd (or tape) I'd have no idea how to keep the song to listen to again!

If you have a computer with a CD burner I can teach you how to turn mp3s, FLAC, whatever into CDRs with free software.

For that matter, for the price of a $10 cable I could teach you how to connect your computer to a cassette deck and make tapes of digital files.

All you have to do is ask somebody. We'll help.
