The big symbol with the little symbol on top looks like something that some elementary school teacher cut out of some construction paper to decorate her classroom bulletin board. It looks shabby and amateurish - especially for the image conscious Prince.

I always wonder which one was on the mic stand first, the big or smaller symbol. Then I make up a humorous story about how it played out to add an additional 2nd symbol. It's a much funnier when you think the small symbol is added first btw.

I noticed the colour isn't even smooth - it looks like it's been coloured in with nail varnish and there are discoloured patches.

Maybe it'll catch on though - Mick Jagger could attach two pairs of lips to his microphone, or Madonna could add a crotch.

I don't find it looks cheap, it's just annoying. I like to watch guitarists' finger work. The symbol mic just gets in the way. Like trying to look out at a view through a fly screen.

I'm loving Prince's hustle right now. He's doing some of everything. Clearly he decided to put that camera blocking on his mic. Clearly he decided to style his band like they're going to fight Electric Woman and Dyna Girl on The Kroff Super Show. These are not bad ideas, they are just poorly executed because he's got a lot to do. In fairness to Prince, somebody at SNL should have told him about the problem at rehearsal.

It doesn't look cheap at all. The one on the mic stand itself is almost a centimeter deep, made of metal and very smooth.

The smaller one is on the mic itself since Prince usually rips the mic out the stand, this one covers the front of his hand - and even has a smaller symbol stamped into it.

The SNL director was doing his best to get side shots but there was only so much he/she could do.
