Prince VS drugs

Is it true that Prince never drink, smoke, fuck women (despite sexual explicit lyrics in his songs) and most not only avoids drugs of any kind but also prohibits!

Like Bruce Springsteen, Frank Zappa, etc?

Did Prince really fired bandmate in early pre-Revolution years for even mentioning drugs?

Refusing to make same mistake his music idols had made (Hendrix, Sly Stone, etc)?

No. It is not true. He's definitely done most of those things and very likely also has done the one I wasn't sure of.

He acknowledged he has been drinking on some occasions, but I doubt he really spoiled himself with booze, or if he did it he did it alone for no one ever confessed seeing him spoiled.

Then there's the infamous experience with xtc on Blue Tuesday, but obviously it was a one time experience.

Factually there is absolutely no other occurence of anyone ever claiming to have seen Prince use drugs other than his own confession to have drank a little and the xtc one night thing. You will find fans who claim he's tried everything and you will also find others to claim he's been sodomized by Tony M., but this is just people tripping without any factual basis. There are so many stories floating around about Prince by ex associates, musicians, friends and girlfriends, or people who just got to meet him once in a club or at Paisley Park: if he had been doing drugs on a regular basis at any point, I think someone'd have told by now but everyone ever asked agreed on saying that he was always opposed to drugs.

IDK if he ever fired someone for drugs and I don't recall the Matt and Lisa story above but Dez recalls in his book that someone didn't get the gig because he offered the band something (can't remember if it was a joint or coke). Obviously u don't last long in his band if you do drugs, or at least if Prince is aware of you doing it, work ethics and all that you know ^^

I think the only -kind of- proven instance of P doing drugs is when he freaked out on E back in December '87. First hand accounts and also some of the lyrics from his songs. Like in 'Supercalifragisexi' when he mentions something along the lines of 'the first person u touch u wanna fuck' etc etc

I believe there is also a really really short clip of him taking a hit from a bong on a vh1 program he did back in '95 or '96. The bong is blurred out though.

I've read tons and tons of accounts on here of Prince experimenting with drugs, but I doubt half are true. I once read he was doing heroin on the Nude Tour lol I think they were being sarcastic though.

I've seen people on here read accounts and act like just because he has experimented with drugs, it somehow makes him less of a person. Loads of people experiment. It's just life.

I once read someone on here say something like "If you feel like that, you might as well throw out half of your music collection, because some of the best albums of all time were written under some form of drugs". I couldn't agree more.

He has smoked pot. Many do not consider pot to be a drug. He makes references here and there in his music to it.

I'm just saying...

It's true, that none of this is true.

I'll wait for someone else to chime in about the 90s whistle

Ahh if it's acting then fair enough, lol.

And yeah, I know about the pain killer thing. Didn't they (Mayte and the others) think it was a suicide attempt, but he claimed he just had bad heart palpitations or something?

The org has declared that he has in fact taken a bong hit on the recording of "The Gold Standard" and takes a hit of a joint on "Time". Its true because we said so.

Change it one more time..

Key word was "evidence", the rumors are just a little more validated as a result. But just a little.

If he's a functional drug user, I'd guess it's more of a productivety thing.

"Light us up and take a hit" from "Now". I haven't watched The Beautiful Experience TV special in a while, and I only have it on VHS, but I think he also makes gestures associated with pot-smoking during the performance of that song.

There might have been a few others that escape me now.

I think he took coke quite a bit during the time he was with Vanity.

I don't think it was anything serious though. Not an addiction to it. Just a once every now and again thing.

I think he'd always had a kind of casual relationship with drugs until the E episode. Nothing that would get him hooked seriously, just when he felt like it.

The only reason he freaked out on E was because Cat supposedly told him to take half a dose because of his size and he took the full dose because idk...little man syndrome or something.

Theres tons of threads about this subject on the org. I don't really see why it's such a big deal? Loads of artists experiment. There was once a test done of an artist I think, doctors gave him some LSD and he drew various self portraits of himself and as time went on, the portraits got absuder and more abstract as the LSD kicked in. Musicians probably see it that way too. Just another way to tap into their subconcious creative mind.

Uptown did an interview with Chris Moon where he said that Prince got very upset when he, Chris, took a joint. I'm not saying Prince never did any drugs, I'm just saying as long as hearsay and rumors is all we have, I'll give him the benefit of doubt.

isn't it in Breakdown, when he sings something like: I used to throw parties in the 80ies, first one to get intoxicated, last one to leave....... I'm sure, Prince with his sensitivity and size didn't need much to get high...

IDK, I'm not an english nativespeaker but I always thought the song Fascination had something to do with weed ?
