About time for me to get some music editing software

I really enjoy AOA, but it's really making me think I should get some music editing software. Why? Because three of my favorite songs are much, much, much better with the beginning cut. Specifically, cutting Andy's first verse on Time, the first 7 seconds of Way Back Home, and the first two lines of The Breakdown make each of those songs sooooo much better.

So what software should I get?

Andy has the better verse on Time! I hate the lyrics on The Breakdown though. They sound so contrived, they make me cringe. The melody also sounds really childish in a strange simplistic way. The bridge with the screaming is great though smile

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

I thought that too. My overall impression, when you consider Way Back Home, Andy has the strongest and most memorable vocals on the album. Kind of unexpected.

The only edit I would do so far is to slow down the Alvin & the Chipmunks vocal on Breakfast Can Wait. lol

That's one thing about today's music--if you don't care for it, you can "fix it" to your liking. lol

Absolutely a good point. I would stay away from that.

I agree to your comment on The Breakdown.

Thank goodness he didn't break a nail...that would even be sadder than sad. Never mind war, poverty or injustice...Prince got it bad, real bad.

I have edited off the screaming/chanting intro of Pretzelbodylogic and it's so much better! The song now starts with a strong guitar lick and no vocals. I just did it in iTunes, not real editing software.

World politics are more external and don't really guarantee someone inner happiness and fulfillment. This is just Prince's way of saying that at 56 years old, he doesn't have much to show for his life except for money and the trappings of fame.

He touched on the same vibe with My Computer.

Audacity is the most widely-used freely available audio editing program.

CharismaDove

this may be off-topic, but I don't care to use it on AOA as much as I care to use it on older music

There's 3 million Prince tracks I'd love to tinker with just a little, but the music editing programs always confuse me.

You butchers. You revisionists. biggrin

I guess with you punks Tony M. would not get a chance to make history.

How about a free open-source software like Audacity?

The mere concept of doing it leaves me totally wondering, I mean it wouldn't cross my mind, but as long as people keep their edits for themselves I see no ethical problem here.
