Based on AOA and PE versions of "FunknRoll", make sure there is a pure funk no-reverb-no-delays version/mix of "The Gold Standard". The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

Other songs on Art Official Age, are deceptively funky (ie they have hidden elements of funk, like Way Back Home, and U know). To me, Prince is still the master of funk, and is currently the best at it and will always be until he passes (just like James Brown was until he passed). You are born with it, and you die with it. That is not a funk song...it is more pop\hip hop. Breakfast...Gold Standard are funky that is about it. The rest is ambient soul or a derivative of that...save for funk n roll...hip hop. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

AOA is a decent modern album for a man who's done it all already.
The Gold Standard is my favorite tune.. not because its in the same league as other Prince Funk Classics.. ie: Erotic City, Housequake, Lets Work, Head ect.. Its NOT! but because its nice to be reminded that Prince still can groove like he used to whenever he wants to.
The rest of the album is pretty much 20ten 3121 and anything else since the rainbow children era.. Not my cup of tea.. too digital.. too lacking in substance.. (substance i care about). He was the man from for you - lovesexy. today.. I'd prefer to see him rocking shows featuring only the Hits - minus the sampler segment. | |

Compare P-funk/Bootsy/LarryGraham modern/digital albums with their 70's Analog ones. Do the same w/ Prince up to the early 90's. | |

The hithats on Clouds are funky. Breakfast Can Wait is funky. The whole bassline working with the rhythm of both the percussion and the vocals is funky.

prince thinks clouds and pretzel body logic are both very funky .. and that is very sad .
prince is a christian so he can't be funky .. christians are completely devoid of any spiritual connection to the vibrations of the universe .. it is scientifically impossible for a christian to be funky .. they are too busy hating gays and covering up child abuse scandals by their leaders .. they are too busy lying to themselves and everyone around them .. they are too busy preaching to open their ears and listen to a groove .. let alone come up with one on their own .
prince is disco now .. he puts his bad lyrics in a computer and it churns out a 'song' .. real computings for real computer lovers .. prince be too clean to be funky .. prince be in the mirror more than he be in the band .. hell prince band be in the mirror more than they be in the band .. how much joy did those girls have on their face talking about their clothes .. when talking about the music they looked terrified and depressed

In fact, James Brown didn't know how to be funky until he experienced it in church. Do your homework playa before you make such idiotic statements. Have you gotten to a point in your life that you are now so hateful that you don't care if you lie to prove your point or justify your dislike of Prince? Come on, man, you don't like Prince. But, must you lie about the history of black music and its relation to Christianity to justify your hatred of Prince? That's just sad playa. By, the way, since hip hop has all but destroyed African-American musicianship, the best soul and funk musicians play in the church or on the gospel circuit 'cause there ain't nowhere else left for them to play. So, you are wrong again. Those black Christian plays might be terrible, but the music is great 'cause it's traditional gospel, meaning it's an amalgamation of blues/soul/funk. yeah i get it .. black people invented EVERYTHING .. come off the reverse racist shit please .. just because the CULT of christianity USES funk to program it's cult worshipers does not mean they invented it ... and calculus has nothing to do with music .. while it is true many musicians understand math better as a result of understanding music .. math is essential a man made concept that does more to control the masses than it does to "change life" for the better for anybody .. . i invent all the time .. that is the nature of an artist, writer or composer of music .. i know my music changes peoples lives because sometimes .. years later .. people will tell me they sing some of my tunes to their children .. or ask me to post some old song of mine that they loved and want it to cheer them up or whatever .. i don't really need u to define my value .. that is the benefit of not having my life dictated by a CULT .. i can know my ownself without being defined by a snake oil salesman ..
