Damn It To Hell, I Really Do Love BREAKFAST CAN WAIT. When I first heard Breakfast Can Wait, it did so little for me and I couldn't believe it was considered worthy of release, never mind have a video made for it. And I was quite vocal about it, too. But, now I've played the album many, many times, I'm actually loving BCW to the point where I've put it on repeat play a few times. I still think it wasn't the greatest choice of lead single as it wasn't an instantly catchy tune, but now I finally do get it as a song. I love it when a Prince song I didn't originally rate finally gets me. | |

Im with you...it used to feel lightweight and slightly throw away, but in the context of the album i think it works really well....'skipping' it doesnt even enter my mind. | |

I always thought it was a bit of a Dorothy Parker but found the chipmunk voice unexplainable. Because there is so much voice manipulation on AOA, now the voice makes more sense and it's like Dorothy Parker meets If I was your girfriend in the last minute -- not as sublime of course, but there's a side of self mockery served along with the pancakes. | |

I used to hate this song. HATE. But it's my favorite among many favorites on AOA now. That shit is FUNKY. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Yeah, it is definately a funky song. I thought it sounded derivative of other Prince songs first, but I have started to like it more and more the more I've played it. It sounds amazing on headphones! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time... |

In my honest opinion, this is one of Prince's best songs in the past 25 years.
It's mature. He's not trying to be a 20 year old kid. It's sophisticated. It uses his famous innuendo approach. And it's simply a phenomenal groove.
While I absolutely love the song, the video does it no justice. Prince should have put something out on his own. It would have been fantastic to see a sophisticated video, and Prince in his element.
I love the maturity of the tune, and it's honesty... and it's humor. It's an instant classic!

the relaxed feel overall i like, the keyboards bring the tension down. i've detuned the chipmunk vocals on a mix (an octave) because he really is doing some nice bluesy vocal touches there, even though they are speeded up on the original. | |
