Somebody's Somebody Appreciation Thread

How many of you love Somebody's Somebody and think that it's one of Prince's best ballads? I think if that song were released today, it would be a hit. I think that it's one of his timeless songs that doesn't sound dated. Anybody else agree? smile

It's a good song, but only the Derek Hughes version gets to me.

A somewhat boring, tinny, and forgettable track, IMHO. Seems like Prince forced himself to write a "radio-friendly" song and ended up with this. Not as offensive as some of his "New Jack Prince" attempts from that era but not one of my faves.

Emanicpation has much more interesting tracks showing a mature Prince but only about 1/3 of the album rise to that level.

Love it. Nobody talks about the Ultrafantasy Edit, tho. That's my fave.

I like the song. The Ultrafantasy edit is my favorite as well. I like howe he used it in the "On sale now" promo on the "Holy River" CD single too lol

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I love the song too. Cool video. I was at the video shoot, the part where Prince is walking through what looks like a club. It was done in the Love 4 One Another room at Paisley Park.

Cool. You've been to a few video shoots I seem to recall. What was the best one?

I love that part of the song and the video when it's raining....the cool way he's looking out the window and the music starts. But remember the strange close up of the t-shirt of Mayte? That always freaked me out for some reason. Not in a completely bad way but it just seemed kind of out of place. I knew he was madly in love with her at the time but that close up of the shirt was a bit too much smile

Emancipation is up there with SOTT, dead serious! And it was 3 discs like SOTT failed to materialize.
