If you think Plectrum Electrum is garbage, what exactly do you like? His guitar work, both rhythm and lead, is excellent.

OMG the resemblence couldn't be clearer....good catch...too similar to be coincidence IMO, another case of him 'borrowing' , if not the song then the riff, which is more common in his recent work than people realise! Even his video seems to be inspired by it.

How interesting,

Yes it is very similar.

Just curious,

what other examples of this are there in Prince's music?

Girl 6 and Phonesex by Gomab (actually was a court case over it, not sure of outcome)

Lavaux and Automatic by Pointer Sisters

Purple Rain and Faithfully by Journey (some similarities)

Guitar and U2's I Will Follow (same riff)

The resemblance is rather striking but before we all go ripping Prince for this, if I'm not mistaken isn't the song Donna's baby? She's the composer and she's already released it on her own album.

You are correct. I'm actually not sure I prefer the original or the 3rdeyegirl version.

chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

similarly, whilst the Pointer Sisters don't borrow directly from a Prince soing with their song Automatic, it is (like so many other songs by others at the time) a carbon copy of his Minneapolis Sound at the time, so with Levaux he is essentially copying himself being copied !

Part of the riff that is similar to the Panthera track but the vibe and tone are (thankfully) very different, as is the soloing. Plus, Prince doesn't look like a total spanner whilst playing it !

Actually, at this early stage of listening to the new albums, Plectrum Electrum is my favourite track !

Can Prince ever write a riff again? Kind of disappointing to see that one of my favorite tracks off the record isn't even written by Prince.
