Haven't been on here for years ... AOA brought me back

First - Way Back Home - God, I'm feeling that track. I know to not read too much into his lyrical mythos, but I feel the longing in the music, lyrics and presentation.

This is the first album since, I don't know, maybe TGE (?) that on first listen, I did not hear an obvious filler song ... or more accurately, a "i'll probably always skip that track for the next tune".

And even the chipmunk vocals in Breakfast don't seem as out of place in context of the album as compared to the single as a stand alone.

I told my family I tore up my Prince fan card years ago, especially with all the youtube BS over the last few years. But with AOA, I've carefully taped that sucker up and put it back in my wallet smile

Who knows? Maybe it's just that after 4 years, having a real Prince album is exciting again. Maybe.

Can't wait to get home tonight and put the headphones on!!!

PlectrumElectrum - Meh (a few good tracks, several skips, and Jimmy Page is gonna sue somebody LOL)

I hadn't torn up my Prince fan card, but this album is really, really enjoyable, like when Prince was on that great roll from the mid 80s to early 90s.

And to think, I was a bit nervous to listen because I was reading so many positive reviews.

This album has an old school feel and a new school feel, and the instrumentation and breaks in the vocals are really atmospheric and seem very well arranged.

Very, very pleased with Art Official Age.

Same thing for me

Yeah I wasn't expecting much but it's great. I mean really good! I've been listening to it every morning on the way to work and I'm addicted. I think the last album I've given this much attention to is the Love Symbol album. I'm addicted!

It's his best album since Come and Gold Experience era. Might even be better than those too. It's so warm, ethereal, spacey...did not see this coming at all!!
I absolutely love it. I really couldn't give a toss if people don't get it. Their loss.

After the emotional investment I gave to his music over the years and the many more years of disappointments my life seems more complete for having AOA in it.
Absolutely love it!
