2 albums on 1 day: good idea or not?

Seeing that we talk about AOA much more that PE, was it a good idea to release them together? If he had released the 3rdEye thing a few months earlier, that would have been the most talked about album. Now it runs the risk of being snowed under. Besides, who but diehard fans are gonna cough up € 45 for two new Prince discs?

If you make 2 shit album...it is not a good idea. If you make 2 great albums it is a good idea.

I guess that this time it was a good idea.

If he had kept it down during Lotusflower he would have had one good album, instead of 2 mediocre ones.

Personally I think this is a great idea. It kinda makes everyone happy. Some people love AOA more, and some love PE more. You can choose to buy one of them, or both if they're both up your alley. He has proved that people does have different opinions, and he knows that he can do different concept albums meant for different groups of fans. In norway we have hip hop enthusiasts, black metal enthusiast, funk/soul/gospel/rnb enthusiasts, blues enthusiasts, pop enthusiasts, rock enthusiasts etc, all loving some of that puprple magic. Now he is atleast giving funk/rock fans and minneapolisfunk/modern fans a choice. Most of his pop followers loves when he is bending his pop songs in either direction.

No.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad to have both. But releasing PE back in feb/march and AOA in Autum makes far more sense as a strategy for maximum exposure. PE would have been reviewed in all the papers and magazines... then he'd have had the same exposure with AOA at the end of the year too.

Release two good album the same day, might be a good idea, when you are the superstar of the decade.

But releasing 2 crappy albums when your name is Prince, is the worst idea of the decade. Commercially, and artistically. On both album, there is not enough material to make an average album. Hell, prince himself agree, because he put a cover from ANOTHER LOVE, his own material being so weak.

Maybe a good EP :
