I love Funknroll, every version of it I've heard. I love the Arsenio performance, the radio leak, every live bootleg version I've heard.

But this... wtf? I only listened to the preview but even so! As with U Know though, I'll reserve final judgement until I've got the whole album but my excitement drops daily. sad

Thinking about it, with this release it seems like the slow tracks will be my favourite. I like Breakdown and I liked the snippet of This Could B Us. Normally the slow tracks are the ones most likely to be skipped for me, so this is weird.

Oh well, at least the PE version should be great. Hopefully the version on there is the one leaked to radio a while back.

RIP sad

Interesting. Sounds like it goes deep which is good. Vocals a bit whiney though.

I'm hoping the radio rip version is on Plectrum, thats a great Camille style track and is way better than this Joshified version

So will this be part of the singles that we get with the preorder of the album or is this being sold seperately as a bonifide single? And is it streaming anywhere?

I thought that little clip was interesting. I dont know if it is good or not. Would have to hear the whole thing. This is certainly shaping up to be an album with a completely different production and vibe that we are used to from Prince. Love it or loathe it, he is trying something different and isnt that what has been missing from his music these past few years? It must be painful for the Prince of the 80's fanbase! lol

This is the same mix that someone recorded on bootleg off a speaker at a show somewhere. I know that's vague... but I heard it before (just a portion)

Pure unfiltered shit.

It took him 4 years to create an album that had this and U Know on it. LOL.

Are these opinions based on the whole song or the 30s sample? Just curious...

This sounds totally different than version on Arsenio and I am very happy for that. Only heard the snippet so I cannot judge the whole tune but...what I can say after listening to U Know and this snippet is that Prince seems to be doing new things. It's not the same formula as on his last several albums. If I will like it or not...I have to wait for the album to drop, but this fact makes me very excited. I have not been so excited for a new Prince album for a long time.

It doesnt seem to be available anywhere else. Not sure what this is and whether it will be part of the single songs available to those who preordered the album, or whether it is a seperate thing. Maybe it is going to be the lead single, and if we want to hear it before the album comes out we will have to buy it.

Not a totally orignal element, would anyone agree its kinda similar to the 'clicking' in this Swizz Beats track and D'Angelo's more subtle use in Devils Pie ?

.

From the sample, I think I'll like this track.

I said mine was based on the snippet and I'm willing to reserve judgement. But then again, if it smells like a turd I don't need to sniff it more to know I ain't gonna spread it on my toast.

falloff don't set yourself up for one of those 180 degree changes of opinion like the ball-sucking U Know episode with Kingsausage. smile

I didnt like the snippet I heard on Amazon at all. It sounds terrible.

The original live version is 100 times better. Lets hope that is on the 3EG album

.

I quite like U Know and Clouds but hated The Breakdown so if this one is anything to go by thats 2 I like and 2 I hate so far.

I loved FunknRoll when I heard Prince perform it live in person... I hope I won't be disappointed with the recorded version.

I'll still reserve judgement but I love the version leaked to radio so much that I can't see this one gaining much favour. But like you say, who saw that Kingsausage thing happening? lol

At least the proper version should be on Plectrumelectrum. headbang

From just the 30sec sample this is totally different then the cool live version performed on Arsenio. I was diggin that live joint and was excited for the album version.

Is this going to be another Fury where the live version kicks the studio versions arse? I hope not...especially if with the recent video production this is going to be the first single to try to get some airplay...

Also why is this single not yet available on iTunes preorder to download?

Did you not get to hear the studio album which was leaked to radio a while back? I expect that to be on Plectrumelectrum. It's a hell of a lot better than this one and as much as I love the live versions, I actually preferred it on the studio version I think. Very much looking forward to the PE version in perfect quality.
