Possible Video Treatments For "U Know"

It seems like this song is gaining traction on iTunes and radio, and if a video is shot for this song, how would you imagine the video to go. The last time, Prince released a song in this vein with a video was "Hot Wit U", a video that was cheaply made with a women in the rain shaking her ass in front of a car with high beams on. Hopefully P learned from that mistake. So play video director and come up with a treatment.

Prince has a track record of some seriously awful videos...

I'm not holding my breath for any of the new ones to be any better unfortunately

I sure hope that P and the WB prove me wrong....

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

Which means this seriously awful track would be perfect video fodder!

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

This could be a big hit...BUT we know that he won't do any videos & will let it die very quickly. I still cannot believe that there's NO VIDEOS ahead of both albums!!. He should be everywhere on Radio, TV, etc BUT there's NOWT!

The first one would be great for Clouds. Think he should do the guitar solo free floating in space.

Only in a parallel universe will Prince score a hit with any of these new 'songs'.

hmmm He'd probably pick an amateur director, and give them their big break
hmmm He would not appear in the video himself
hmmm It feature a group of dancers vibing off eachother, prancing around with not much of story line

Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow
I will take my place, In the great below

I could see something being done with animation. That would be a first for Prince (not counting raspberry beret)

Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see
I can be in a park, or flying in the…in the deep sea
I wish u’d hold my hand; then everything could b
There’s nothing strange, we’re not deranged
We only want everyday 2 b a Cosmic Day

More than likely, Prince wouldn't appear in the video. At 56, I don't want to see Prince trying to be look seductive and sexy, coming off like a creepy old man in the club. Prince could get Drake to mime his parts and have Nicki Minaj dancing and being scantily clad. "U Know" is aimed at the Hot-97-The-Breakfast-Club crowd, might as well go all out.

His age doesn't matter...he definitely needs to be in the video. And this could indeed be a hit..at least on r&b/hip radio. Youtube video watches count as part of chart position so it would help. Either way it's a hit to me.

He hasn't had a new top 40 hit since 1995. That's close to 20 years. He'll likely never have another one. Quick, name all the over 55 artists with big top 40 hits this year? Uhhh...Ummm...Urrr uhhh....

Yeah...I just named them.

Quick name all the big hits by artists over 45? Uhh...Ummm....I'd be shocked if there was even one. But Prince is 56, and a hit would take a tremendously great song...

Not a Auto Tune infected piece of garbage that U Know is.

I remember hearing "The 1 U Wanna C" on local Orlando radio for a few weeks. It had a tiny chance, but Prince didn't promote it. He sort of promoted "Future Baby Mama," but his hit days are over.

Oh, I never answered the actual thread question:

Just make a video of somebody at a big garbage dump throwing tons of boxes with "Auto FU***N Tune" written on the boxes, and show them throwing them in the dump. I'd watch that with the sound turned off for a bit.

Chick is scamming music vids on YouTube and vimeo and vevo... But pesky ass prince keeps appearing in the videos of other people, his attention directed at her...tempting her. When the breast part comes she becomes self conscious for a second and covers up a Lil' no' bettah...but the tempting has gotten to her and she digresses with her modesty. Video watching continues...eventually she gets a tweet from 3rdeyegirl saying he's at the door and she like WTF.!!! He really was at the door. She goes to leave with him...and as she closes the door...u see prince over her shoulder wink at the viewing audience...then he pimpwalks away with his catch. U can hear 'this could be us' playing in the car they're headed to.

"a hit would take a tremendously great song..." The songs that are on the radio are far from great songs. Prince won't have another number 1 or top 20 song again, but "U Know" is on par with the urban contemporary music you hear (Nicki Minaj, Drake, Beyonce). But any chance Prince has to improve its chances of becoming a hit, would be destroyed by doing something unpredictable, so it wouldn't matter.

I thought that for ICP&c...some really unrealistic exaggerated animation playing out the plot of the song. It would been too soon after the Madonna video for music though.

It's recess time at a juvenille detention center and the juvenille delinquents are hanging outside in their sagging jeans smoking blunts, drinking 40s, picking fights with each other, and whatever else they do for fun. A mysterious looking car with tinted windows keeps driving slowly, circling the block, and continuously driving past the playground. Finally, one of the tinted windows rolls down and a hand motions for one of the guys to come over to the car. The hand is holding a pair of headphones and hands them to the young thug who places them on his head and he begins bobbing his head slowly and says..."That's dope!". Since he likes what he's hearing, the hand motions him to get in the car but he declines. The car continues to circle the playground waving for more and more thugs to come over until one of them finally gets in the car. Once the guy is in the car, the hand gives him a copy of the brand new "Fart Official Age" CD and then the hand lowers onto the guy's knee. The camera raises to show the identity of the face of the owner of the mysterious hand and it is Prince smiling an evil grin. Then, he presses a button and the car starts jumping up and down like a damn pogo stick.

.

In the final shot of the video, the car drives past a park which is full of grown working people who are eating lunch during their lunch hour. The window rolls down and a bunch of old former Prince CDs fly out of the window smashing onto the pavement of the street. A handwritten note flys out of the window afterwards and one of the working people picks it up and reads it. The note says..."No more candy for u".
