Purple Rain 30th Anniversary Concert - 1 Nite Only

Now listen we all know that Prince does not want to do a full on Purple Rain 30th Anniversary Tour , but how about an HBO filmed 1 Nite only Prince & the Revolution concert in December to promote the release of the remaster. If this is ever going to happen it needs to happen now. All of the key players may not be around for a 40th Anniversary. Prince if U want 2 surprise U're fans give them the gift of a 1 time concert. Add in The Time , Sheila and Apples. In time U will regret that U let this pass U by.Prince the ball is in U're court and it's time to play ! Stop with this I don't live in the past , BS and Get'R'Done.

It's amazing that Wendy, Lisa, Sheila, and Prince performed together on the same stage back in 2006, and there was so little publicity. Plus they put on a good show. How hard would it be to add Mark, Dr., and Bobby? I have a feeling Prince would want to leave 1 or 2 of them out in favor of more recent band members.

the rev could never handle the brilliance that is lets go crazy reloaded .. why would prince do this when he could do that .. i mean .. it makes absolutely no sense to perform these songs with the band that wrote them when he has improved these songs so much since dumping the rev

Haha, no chance in this universe.

Unless WB arranged it and offered plenty (!) of dollahs.

Can you imagine if Prince and The Revolution were on a 3-month summer tour right now? It would not only be the year's hottest tour, but it would guarantee that the upcoming PR remaster set is a worldwide smash. The hype and the media attention would be tremendous! Fans who haven't seen a Prince concert in years would be flocking to these shows.

What a missed opportunity! confused Reunion tours are always fun,but this one would be massive

'Fans' that haven't seen a Prince ocncert in years?

P plays mostly old stuff anyways and now that he could do old stuff with an old band it would be interesting for the people that stay at home? (yes, I did not attend the (very) recent shows!)

I do not see a reason why it would work.

Think about it this way. He will still be making money with a solo "hits" tour. No need to bother with other former musicians.

$ is the key.

It's not that amazing that there was hardly any publicity. There are people on the org who couldn't care less about a reunion so I don't suppose there are very many people at all outside of the hardcore who even know who Wendy and Lisa and the rest of the Revolution are let alone want to go see them play without Prince.

They can advertise to the Prince community and easily sell out a show or 2 but there's never going to be widespread interest.

RIP sad

It would be "interesting" because of the 30th Purple Rain anniversary and the nostalgia factor. The fans that flocked to the 1984/85 concerts would be able to celebrate that milestone all over again.People go crazy (no pun intended, lol) over stuff like that.Imagine if tickets went on sale back in May for a summer tour that was advertised like this:

Prince And The Revolution 'Go Crazy Again!' World Tour 2014

Special guest: Sheila E.

instant sellout! And what better way to promote the upcoming PR remaster than with a reunion tour?! Warners could have also done a few other things...maybe release the movie in select theatres in the major cities. The possibilities are endless!

He's already done numerous "solo" hits tours bored a Revolution reunion tour wouldn't be just a simple tour,it would be an EVENT! A perfect way to celebrate his biggest career milestone.

I would love to hear the Parade sound all over all of prince music .. that was most certainly his peak with any group .. the tones the harmonies the horns the raw drums the beautiful acoustic guitar tones the real grand piano .. that group could make almost anything sound genius .. i dont even like the purple rain "sound" that much .. the songs are great .. but would love to hear that group take on almost anything in prince catalog

A lot of burnt bridges to mend.

Everyone wants the Revolution to reunite, save for maybe a few thousand here on the Org.

It would be a media event, for sure. If a new (old, shelved) album was released at the same time, it would be cool.

The only downside I can think of is that the Revolution was always a "sexual" band to me. Everyone was young, daring, and risqué. Now they're all old, and that element would be missing.

An interesting approach would be to re-unite The Revolution at First Avenue and broadcast it live to a major TV station like NBC on a Friday or Saturday night. That way, the environment is somewhat controlled and nostalgic at the same time. Do interviews with the bandmembers before the concert (pre-recorded interviews). Have the purple motorcyle parked behind them as they're being interviewed, stuff like that. Maybe even show the edited-for-TV movie immediately after.

.

You could also do a social media tie-in where people who log on to the website during the show get a free, unreleased track and are entered to win a guitar, free trip to Paisley Park or possibly even Prince's entire catalog.

I really don't think there are a lot of burnt bridges to mend, and I say that honestly and seriously. The problem is not on their end (The Revolution). They all reunite already and have a great time.

.

The problem is on Prince's end. HE is the one that will need to make the calls and open those lines of communication. Didn't they invite him to the last reunion? That already says that they're open to it. .

It's in Prince's hands.

If he did he would be a real sell-out.
