The album is #25 on iTunes and "Clouds" is #140 (up from 146 a few hours ago). I don't believe the album will be able to debut at #1 on Billboard since Blake Shelton has a new album out that week as well, but Art Official Age and Plectrum Electrum should give Prince his 15th and 16th top ten albums, moving him higher up on the all-time list. For an artist like Prince, all-time standings are where it's at nowadays (as opposed to competing with Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande for top 40 airplay).

If you're curious, here are the current standings:

MOST TOP 10 ALBUMS ON THE BILLBOARD 200

Rolling Stones 36

Frank Sinatra 33

Barbra Streisand 32

The Beatles 31

Elvis Presley 27

Madonna 20
Bob Dylan 20

Paul McCartney 19

George Strait 18
Elton John 18
Bruce Springsteen

Neil Diamond 17
Rod Stewart 17

Mariah Carey 17

Johnny Mathis 16

Dave Matthews 15
Tim McGraw 15
Jay Z 15
Garth Brooks 15
R Kelly 15

Eric Clapton 15

Prince 14
Van Halen 14
The Beach Boys 14
Toby Keith 14
Barry Manilow 14

Santana 13
Led Zeppelin 13

Chicago 12
Rush 12
Alan Jackson 12
Bon Jovi 12
Korn 12
Celine Dion 12
Mary J Blige 12

[Edited 8/26/14 13:55pm]

Too Bad The BILLBOARD 200 didn't allow catalog album to chart before 2009, because THE VERY BEST OF in 2004 charted at #2 in the catalog chart, and so in the top ten overall.

The list from hits daily contains only the first week sales from the artists last album...so you never know how it is this time and the sales are quite low these days...

Prince`s last albums sold in the first week on the US Billboard charts from 96 000 ( planet earth) to Lotusflower (168 000 copies).., 3121 (183 000 copies)....

Interesting to see that PE, though promoted in the UK early this year, charts largely below ART OFFICIAL AGE.

i predict Prince will be at #2 in the USA with about 160 k, and PE somewhere in the top 5 with 80.000 k, and surely TVBO in the top 100.

Too bad, because if Prince released only one true good album instead of two (as I pointed out before, nobody understand the PE thing) it would have been #1.

Less than 25 days before the releases, still no word from Prince, no music video, no airplay, no real single, no word for the PURPLE RAIN re-release (who could have been #1 too if released properly). That don't smell good.

According to Dr Funk, since Prince owns his masters now, Warner isn't going to put the money behind a video like they would someone who's masters they own because they won't make it back. So basically, it's up to P to pay for videos. Even still, I think a good video is very important in making a song successful so I hope he does one, fast. I'm confused about airplay, shouldn't it have been added to radio by now? I think Fallinlove2nite was? confused

I'll admit, these charts confuse the hell out of me. haha Is hitsdaily for US only? Where are P's numbers (I'm assuming they should be there since it's been available for preorder for over a week)?

It's up to the major (WB) to pay payola in order to an artist be allowed to be played massively. That happened with FALL IN LOVE, because EPIC was behind to push the airplay.

So, if we are in the same logic as with the video, there won't be any pushing in airplay for both album. And when you know that PURPLE RAIN must be released less than two months after, it tells a lot about the failure that this album will make on charts, except for the first 2/3 weeks...AS USUAL.

IIRC, 3121 hold the record in the 00's for an album which went #1, but ended with the lower sales (about 560.000 ex).

Prince don't play the game, even when he haS a video played on MTV (blacksweat), he doesn't come on tv to play the song live, but instead play songs that will never be release as a single (remember lolita/ satisfied on pop idol, what a waste, and Universal didn't buy a tv advertisement neither, which made Prince very angry, so he ended the promotion).

When TGRES was released in 1999, the music video was released something like two months after the single, so it failed to chart in the top 40.

I think WB allowed Prince to release his shits in exchange of PURPLE RAIN. But i fear that the poor sales/critics of the 2 albums to come will affect negatively the PR reedition, which is the only thing WB wants to sell. People might be already bored of Prince, in the end of november.

Anyway, we have two albums release in 25 days as if prince was still the popstar of the 80's (a strategy that failed in the 90's even when the release date was note on the same day, in 1999 and in 1996), and NO real single, no release date, no video, no airplay, no tv performance announced. It's worst than with Chaos and Disorder.

if Prince wants a hit, he needs to make a duet with a star like beyonce or Timberlake. The MJ's XSCAPE would have been a failure if there wasn't for the duet.

It's all very frustrating when it seems there is a simple formula to follow. I'd like to see these albums do well but he's going to have to do the work, it's not 100% up to the label.

I'm not sure about people being sick of him, though. Apparently PR is going to rechart this week in the top 20 on Billboard (not sure which chart).. not sure what that indicates but I guess it's not a bad thing. Could mean less people buy the remaster, though.

in the top catalogue maybe ? or the top soundtracks ? PR already charted in june, with the attention gave by the media, it ranked someting like #100 in the Billboard 200. What a waste.

Prince never did the work for a long time for only one album, you can guess what it will be with two albums the same day, with a reedition two months later...he will sing Purple rain for promoting PE, and SCREWDRIVER (which is not on PE, I know, but remember the gold era) for promoting PURPLE RAIN. it's sad, because I know WB tries to create a hype with the releases, and that can give Prince new fans. But it must be impossible for a new fan in 2014 to understand Prince nowadays. It still makes no fucking sense for me to release two albums the same day, and it won't make any anysense for nobody.

lol! It's funny because I know you're right, but it's not funny because it's so frustrating! I felt like he caved a little by doing all hits on the H&R tours recently so maybe he's trying to play it by the book a little. Who knows.. I guess at the end of the day, as long as he's still happy doing what he's doing, I'll support him, even if I do want to scream at him sometimes. lol

How could I know what you are looking for ? i'm not in your mind!

In fact, like I said, Prince should have 15 top ten. VBO was in the comprehensive top ten in 2004, but that was not counted at the time by Billboard.

Even 16, because MPLSS charted with LF.

Nope ! It seems hard for some people to googlize just three words :

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...iscography

Ultimate, HITS 1 and 2 were far from being top ten
