In terms of album versions I'd say Girls & Boys. If we are including 12" and extended mixes then Mountains 12" version.

Though Under The Cherry Moon, Anotherloverholenyohead and I Wonder U are close seconds.

Venus De Milo is a beautiful instrumental that I wish could go on for longer, perhaps as part of a piano based work. My head says that Kiss is the best pure pop song on there - it screams 'hit'. But really, for attitude and coolness it's got to be 'Girls And Boys'. The video just puts it over the top. I do think the album would really benefit from the addition of 'Pop Life', it would slot right in for me.

New Position - Has it all. It's funky but without his funk formula (9th & 13th chords on the guitar), lot's going on but tons of space in the arrangement, coy lyrics that sound sexual but have a much deeper meaning. And the best bass line since...

LIFE CAN BE SO NICE, chaos and beauty, sadness and joy, drums and bass, the abrupt ending is curious, and I loved the live version with the sax solo at the end. I wish he had released. 12 inch version. "Scrambled eggs, so boring..."

Not for the movie soundtrack though, I know it failed as in keeping with the time it was set in but Pop Life wasn't too 1940ish. Neither was Kiss. The other songs actually worked with the time setting.

.

I would have been cool if he released the movie soundtrack Christopher Tracey's PARADE

and released Little Girl Wendy's PARADE w/songs that didn't make the album or a different configuration
