Went to Prince's performance at Essence Fest, had great time, Prince was magnificent! Janelle Monet performed first, and then Nile Rodgers. Prince teased the crowd by coming out at the end of Janelle's performance, making the crowd go wild, and then he did the same during Niles performance! In between, we had Doug E Fresh entertaining us. Finally Prince and 3rd Eye Girl came on, they were great! Prince sung a lot of the oldies, Let's Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, Kiss, Sometimes It Snows in April, etc, along with Michael Jackson's-Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, Janet Jackson's-What Have You Done For Me Lately, The Times-Jungle Love, The Bird, along with other songs. Prince looked and sounded great, and so did the band. He danced his butt off! And yes, he had the afro! He asked the crowd if they had a request, and they were all chanting "Purple Rain"! Lol.....Prince pretended not to hear, and after he performed a couple of songs, he would say "good night" but then kept coming back. Lol.......He said "good night" again and left the stage, and it went dark, but the crowd didn't believe he was gone, so they kept chanting "Purple Rain, Purple Rain, Purple Rain" and then you heard the guitar with the theme from Purple Rain, and the lights went up, and he sung it!!!! The crowd went wild!!!! After that he performed another song that I've never heard, I assume it was the last song of the night, but my hubby and I left early to avoid the crowd, and what a crowd it was! That man filled the Superdome! People in Louisiana and elsewhere, loves Prince! We had great center row floor seats, Prince was great! The man gives a great show!

I concur, the man gives it his all every time. He is a great artist, thank you Prince for the greatest show on earth.

Someone on Facebook said that Nile Rodgers and Prince also performed a funked up version of David Bowies' Lets Dance!!! I would have done something totally illegal to have heard and seen THAT!!!!!

IMO, if Prince got rid of his schoolgirls and hooked up with Nile Rodgers, then he will get his funk back!! Just sayin'.........
