Dear Prince (are U Reading here?).. please open up for that vault, don't waste all that valuable time...

Reason for asking U / dear Prince to open that vault of yours:

I am 48 years old, I have diabetes... if I will turn 65 I guess I am lucky,

I wonder will that vault be opened and the songs released in my lifetime........

And, I wonder if U / Prince even cares about that, about your own fanbase and our "needs" to see some purple funk from that vault.....

Lifetime is very valuable, so hurry up, there's no time to waste. Please. smile

To my fellow orgers:

Actually I am very "afraid" that Prince cares : zero, about this, our so-called "needs", and about wasting time in general.......

I am maybe wrong, but it looks like Prince cares more about getting the right contract, "time" does not seem like an important factor to him... (am I right about U / Prince, just.. in case you are reading)...... ?

^ thanks for the reply Eyehatechu, and I agree... on your last sentence.

Ps) maybe too much information in this thread, about my health situation..?

Well, I have a good life - I really have, I feel good...

this isn't so much about my life situation,

It's more about, isn't Prince kind of: "wasting time"....?

Time, it doesn't seem like he cares about it.

We are waiting for that new album, and remasters and vault materiel, too. Right?

What do you girls & boys think about that, shouldn't he speed up, and release it?

Well, it could feel cynical (not ironic) to point out Prince's waste of time like this. But I don't care.

There is a related situation with Paul McCartney who is much older than Prince and whose expanded remasters come out at a snail's pace. Isn't he interested in the fans' and critics' reaction?

The flipside is, since life is short for everyone, and even shorter for some, why devote a second of it to worrying about something you can't control? Prince doesn't owe fans anything, and he's already releasing material all the time. Count yourself blessed that so many songs have leaked or seen release from the Vault in your lifetime and you got what you got. What would Prince care for fans that disregard the music he wants to put out, that feels important to him now, and just wants more, more, more, of the Vault stuff. For whatever reason, Prince deemed those songs not good enough, too good, or too ahead of the audiences at the time....and it's his life's work.

.

His life is precious too, and maybe we should let him live, and do him the way he wants to.

.

Sometimes I think Prince fans have channeled some wasted energy into fantasizing about the Vault mythology, and it's taken on a life of it's own. Talking about it is more interesting than the actual songs. .

.

Yeah..i understand, thedance. None of us have a long time here on earth and unfortunately we have no control over how long we live. So if u are listening Prince, dont waste time, release SOMETHING for us to enjoy. But also lets enjoy the music Prince has put out for us and appreciate THAT music.

I don't worry too much about remasters. There are programs out there that can enhance the old CDs to sound comparable to modern music.

What I care most about is hearing "new" unreleased music from the 80s and early to mid 90s.

Regarding your comments about "time", I think they're in poor taste but I'll reply anyway. Prince has a plan for the vault, make no mistake about that. We just don't know what that plan is. The songs in there could be slated for mass destruction or mass release. They could be his "parts bin" to raid and reformat into new/current songs. Or, they could be released after his death to benefit family or various charities.

We. Do. Not. Know.

Thanks all for the personal comments..and to Dilan, in 2001 it was discovered, I have diabetes type 2, the way it was discovered: I was very very thirsty, drinking a lot of water, running to the toilet all the time, when I went to the doctor.. my blood sugar was as high as 26 (iirc). Normal level is around 6-8. (Afaik). But that is usually the way it is discovered, you are tired - sleeping a lot, dizzy, and you are very thirsty, no matter how much you are drinking it is never enough.....

edit: I am the only one in my family with diabetes, before : I was eating sugar like everyone else.. today I have to avoid sugar and also avoid food with high level of fat. Some people with diabetes are ocationally having too low sugar level, that can be dangerous, and you have to eat or drink something that will raise the level - juice for instance. (as seen in movies, I remember Godfather 3, Michael Corleone have diabetes, drinking some juice, iirc), I myself have never had a too low level, I don't know why..... Did I reply fully to you?

this is going a bit off topic, ah never mind. wink

I know I would try to...I would go and grab everything I could. *Runs in the vault, grabs Electric Intercourse Studio Version and anything I get my hands on, then runs out with arms full of unreleased material*

I think we have already heard the cream of the crop,as far as unreleased music goes. While I would love to hear everything else that's in the vault,I'm satisfied with what I have already heard and 'obtained' smile and if the Warner Bros. remastering deal works out,we'll surely get more unreleased stuff in the coming years.I believe that the strongest, most inspired Prince music has already been officially released. No need to obsess about the leftovers in the vault.

Thanks to Javi, SuperSoulFighter, EyeHateChu and others for your personal comments.. those comments feels good to me. Thank you.

If I made this thread a "little" too personal myself, then I regret that,

But none of us lives forever, the only mesage I am trying to say, is: I hope we will see great releases "while we can"......

New album,
Remasters with bonus,
Maybe even vault material. You know, all those recordings burried there. Released. Some day.

But again I guess we have to be really, I mean really patient to see music and video releases..... and tick, tock the time is running.. for all of us.

Sometimes I think that Prince himself does not care about the "running time", because he is that very much religious himself, I mean being a JW? Its' like he doesn't see "time" as something very valuable? If I am wrong then sorry, no offense intended. I am not that much of a religious person myself, I am therefor guessing.

But a JW is believing in the so-called afterlife (I don't know much about JW's to be honest), but could his religious beliefs be the reason, why he has no hurry to release vault material? And, why "time" isn't a factor to him..?

In case this sounds really crazy I am sorry. But. Maybe "the afterlife" means more to a JW than "this life", and time isn't that valuable then, here, now.......

I hope I am not sounding too crazy, by mentioning this above..

Maybe this isn't about his religious beliefs at all, but more about his business, making good contracts, and in general just have no hurry at all......

I am speculating, I admit it.. and, I guess patience isn't my middle name... it could be, also, I am just too demanding,

But: we all want to hear what is in those vaults, right. Or. Maybe SoulAlive is right - we already have seen and heard what could be in those vaults..

Well. My only hope is those will be opened, while I am here to enjoy..it's true I have diabetes, but it's not that I will be gone tomorrow, far from. I expect to have at least 10-15 good years.... maybe more. Now, too personal again.... I better stop to be that personal, I Mean.. I better hold now.. (to hold writing more in this post),

(A very long post, sorry... but not "too off topic", and not "too crazy", I hope......)

Wow, man. It ain't that serious, is it? No new music in a while from a guy that's released...I don't know...what amounts to a shit ton? With another shit ton of unauthorized releases out there (many of which you undoubtedly own).

I get it that P has spoiled his fans, but this ain't a matter of life or death. He's an entertainer, and he's made plenty of entertaining music. Go listen to some, kick back and enjoy yourself. You'll find that, despite its age, it still sounds pretty good! In your spare time, take advantage of time with friends and family. You know, the REALLY important things in life.
