He probably had multiples (at least two) made of each outfit for washing and wearing ease on tours and such. But this is amazing to see on ebay! I wonder if they will sell for big cash, or go unclaimed?

How much did Mayte sell them for?

Cool, but what's up with the condition of all the shoes in the collection? They're all beat to shit. What'd he do...go hiking with them? I know she says "wear and tear" from being used "on stage". But c'mon. Where was the stage located...in a rock quarry?

The satin ones look like Mayte dropped 'em under her bike and rolled over 'em.

I think the condition of the shoes has a lot to do with how they were stored - I had a bunch of my kids' shoes that were in great condition stored in a plastic box all jumbled together, and they looked more beat up, especially the ones toward the bottom, when I took them out a few years later.

So has anyone bought any of this stuff yet? I saw on the show that she also sold her wedding dress to the same place? My friend who doesn't follow Prince thought the dress was a tacky 80s stage costume. She was surprised when I told it it was the wedding dress. lol

Mayte also sold several more outfits and his belongings in Dec. 2013 at Julien's Auctions. They went for a lot less than they are being offered for on Ebay. I got a stage worn costume for under $5k. the prices were amazing!!

Previously I bought costumes he wore in Under the Cherry Moon which I think are as special as his purple trench (plus there are so many of them.)

That's reasonable, but the prices for these items not so much.

Do you have money to burn???

Even if Prince DID wear it I can't imagine spending so much money on a single piece of clothing.

What have you done with it? Displayed it or something? Just wondering.

What era is the one you bought from Julien's Auctions?

That's unrealistic pricing.

If you have money you would have more sense than to but these outfits and if you didn't have money you'd have better things to spend it on.

If you are a music collector looking for an investment this type of money is Lennon, Elvis or Hendrix type prices. Not Prince (at least not yet) prices.

I have several of his outfits from Under the Cherry Moon, Mayte era concert outfits, A couple of pairs of boots, his gold necklace, a signed contract from Purple Rain (with his personal info on it), I try to only collect really iconic pieces or items. I feel there are only a handful of people of his state in the music business and he is my all time favorite. Of course, I meet MANY people who say the following when they see my amazing collection...."Why do you like Prince?" "Why would you spend a $1 on his items?" "Is he a midget?" "He must be the size of a 12 year old boy!" "Did he make any music after Purple Rain?" I realize all of you in this forum will understand my shock and despair (and laughter) when I get these responses.

Well she finally let go, good for her. But damn, I'm not going to purchase these. It must be nice. I think having the handcuffs would be a nice conversation piece.

It seems kind of cold on Mayte's end to sell Prince's cloths. Why not just give them back to Prince?

chrisslope9- Are you serious? She didn't come away with much in that divorce and then he had the audacity to tell her she had to PAY to come see him in concert! (the mother of his child!) outrageous... why would she give him shit? she should sell them and get every cent she can get! Manuela sold his piano and I think even some of his stuff on Craigslist! (how insulting!) he obviously can piss a girl off....

Nah, not cold, you haven't seen the show she was on, she really has had issues with letting go. Plus she's got a baby to feed now. And he doesn't want those old thing anyway, what's he going to do with them?

Is that pawn-shop being used out of necessity?

.

Think of it this way: do you buy milk in the supermarket, or do you milk a cow?

My friends went to that Beverly Hills pawn shop and the things they showed them buying on Hollywood Exes actually didn't get sold... only the three outfits on Ebay... maybe they realized there is not a big market for Mayte's personal clothing?

I'd wear them in the house and pretend I was Prince, obviously. What else would I do with them? Go shopping?

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

I wonder what Mayte did with all her clothes from the '90s? I love some of the stuff she wore.

The question THAT IT is none of my business is:

"How did she get his clothes to sell?

He wore them, so why did she sell them?

He had to give permission to sell them.

I know, if somebody wanted to sell my clothes; somebody better ask.

So, ask yourself... HOW and better still why did she do this and he didn't?

An answer won't be had because, as I stated previously: IT IS NONE of my business, period.

Thank you.

Hm, I wouldn't really call it low. If she has no use for them then I don't get why she can't sell them. If Prince gave them to her, that would mean it's her property to sell.

Also, its probably a good thing she's moving on. I know she held on to their wedding china for a hell of a long time. Heck, she still had it on display in a cupboard up until as recent as the first season of Hollywood exes (which I believe was 2012).

I also believe she is using the money she makes off the garage sale to fund her animal shelter, which is a good thing.
