You know those moments in Prince songs, that even for a couple seconds, take you to another level of life. Of course we do, otherwise why would we spend so much time and money with this guys music.

One of those moments for me is during All My Dreams. This song is good, it's not great but it's good. I think it is a tad long, and the middle part could be cut down as not much happens. I could possibly see it as an album opener or closer, as well as the concert closer extended jam in the vein of Baby I'm A Star/Beautiful Night.

.

For me, the best part of this song take place in the last minute. Espcially the last 30 seconds. His vocals backed with Wendy & Lisa make for a perfect closing to this 7 minute climax fit for a king.

The way he repeats "Don't ever lose your dream" three times over is almost like a personal pep talk from the purple one himself.

I'm definately with U on that one, that's a big part of the reason I became fixiated on Prince music when I first heard that ending. Lisa's string arrangement just added the perfect touch

The way "Housequake" gets going at it's startup call and answer. Very startling and all the noises seem so perfect and crazy. The sound of the bassline starting up is great. There's tons of musical parts in there that he didn't try to recreate in the live arrangement for the SOTT tour.

I was obsessed with one little part of "Bob George" back when it was a fresh in 1988. It's the way the rhythms all kick in at the end when he says "I'll kick your ass". The guitar sounds so perfect in tone, and everything starts swinging.

I love the airport intercom sound of the transmississippi rap.

YES, actually a lot happens in the middle of All My dreams and all along the aforementioned tracks. People just don't know how to listen, people just can't HEAR it because they haven't trained their ears to go beyond the obvious and splashing. It's exactly like when u teach language u realize people can't HEAR some sounds that don't exist in their mother tongue until they trained their ears. All those tracks are FULL of micro musical events, but u need a musician's or a true music afficionado's trained ear to hear them is all. 4 chrissakes someone who ain't never heard opera or classical Indian music in their life will say "nothing happens" in a Wagner opera or a classic Indian raga (4 realz!)

I've been meaning to have it tattooed for the last 25+ years as it really was a line that seemed like it was 'sent' to me personally following an attack that left me too afraid to go out. I've also said it to myself regarding the odd ex when they've shit on me & I've left. If it weren't for Prince who knows how different my life might be?

I never said it was bad or boring at all. I just feel the song could've been tighter if maybe the middle was cut a bit shorter. I get what your saying though. Personally I enjoy listening to all the songs you mentioned in your above post. Condition Of The Heart is one of the songs that the intro is crucial to set up the mood for the song.
