Are you going to get rid of your Prince CDs?

...Once they have been replaced in the catalog by the planned reissues? hmmm

Maybe you have so much faith in the WB reissue licensing deal that you have already started getting rid of those Prince CDs? biggrin

All my CD's went in the loft years ago. Lossless ripped, no need to clutter up the shelves. smile

Overall, most of my CD collection has been ripped and stored on an external drive. Currently, I'm importing that stuff to a cloud. However, I don't anticipate getting rid of my old Prince CD's/vinyl/tapes that are replaced by reissues. Truthfully, I'm only looking to buy the PR reissue with hopes that Parade & SOTT will come soon after, depending on the extras.

I never get rid of anything Prince-related.

No. There will only be a PR re issue anyway, he'd have long time lost interest in the re issue stuff by the time PR comes out. He'll have gotten his masters back lock them away and forget about them.

unless they already have far advanced plans to release everything

from for you / lovesexy in one of 2 boxsets, i can't really see any

other remasters happening soon after PR. it would take years and

years, if it happens at all.

.

even if it did, i don't see the point in selling my 'old' album since a

2nd hand store gives you pennies for used discs anyway. i'm not

going to sell the bulk of my albums for a total of 40 dollars or so.

they don't take up that much space so best just leave them where

they've been ever since i ripped them to digital -in a box in storage.

Let's not count our chickens. The first one isn't even out yet and Prince is slagging them off in interviews and it's a looooooooooooooong way to Chaos & Disorder: The Remaster.

I can't imagine any other release besides PR getting an "anniversary" release, which is already turning out to not match up with the original release date. I wish these remasters would just show up in the store in a box set like The Beatles' catalog.

Of course not, nowadays remasters and reissues are super compressed and they usually sound like shit.

Dunno yet, I ain't a completist. I'll see (and listen) what P and WB will bring to the table then I'll decide.

I have them in a trunk in the closet, along with magazines and other items. I doubt I'll part with them, but maybe I'll become a monk and give up all earthly possessions.

whenever a CD is reissued/remastered,I always get rid of the "old" copy.No point in keeping it,since I won't ever listen to it again wink

Besides, many of those old CDs (especially Sign O The Times and Controversy) were pressed in the 80s and the sound is so flat.I'll be glad to get rid of those CDs.

yeahthat I do not expect the new release to sound "better". I expect loudness war levels and compression.

I'll be buying for the extras and because I'm a completionist collector that buys everything I can get ahold of. wink

when a remaster is done correctly, the sound can be incredible! You'll hear certain things in the music that you never noticed before.

I'm not really a collector, but wehn i got rid of my LP's a few years ago, I kept the Prince records. Guess something likewise will happen when the CD-collection will be removed from the living room or house.

Well, almost my point - except I'm not a completist - the extra material will probably be the "buy / don't buy" factor for me.

With "extra" I mean officially unreleased, I don't care about the same old extended mixes, I already have that stuff.

Oh man. It's Sign O The Times that sounds flat as hell. I'll be glad to replace that one. Nothing too special about those original booklets either.
