Nice list you have here! Two of your list are on mine too. And the bolded ones are the ones I've considered too, but didn't make my list in the end.

Since you asked, there are some singles/hits in there: Pop Life (#7 pop/#8 R&B), Pink Cashmere (#50 pop/#14 R&B), Anotherloverholenyohead (#63 pop/#18 R&B), Damn U (#108 pop/#32 R&B), Eye Hate U (#12 pop/#3 R&B)

I think if "Pop Life" had had a video it would be better remembered today. It was the follow-up to "Raspberry Beret" and one of his strongest pop songs, in my opinion.

Yeah, why is Pop Life coming up?

It's probably one of his top 10 most recognizable hits. It's got supermarket status.

in my case the UK 12" version is pretty rare, never been released on a CD.

2. 17 Days

3. Let's Work

4. The Question of U

5. Willing and Able

6. DMSR

7. The Beautiful Ones

8. Fury (Live from SNL)

9. Don't Play Me

10. The Ballad of Dorothy Parker

11. Thunder

12. Days of Wild

13. She's Always In My Hair

14. When the Lights Go Down

I know the post said 12 tracks, but I like this 14-track mix, so I'm sticking with it... I figure it should all easily fit on one CD, so why not? smile I tried to mix a few truly original "this could only be Prince" songs like "Anna Stesia," "Willing and Able," "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker," and "The Question of U," with other great tracks that show off his excellence in different genres. For rock/guitar, I included the kick-ass live version of "Fury" and his nuanced acoustic work on "Don't Play Me." I represented pure funk with "Let's Work" and "DMSR." "Thunder" has Prince drawing on gospel influences, while "When the Lights Go Down" shows off his jazzier side, and I consider "Days of Wild" to be the one time Prince really hit a hip-hop home run. I think "17 Days" and "She's Always In My Hair" are pop gems that would have been chart smashes if they were singles instead of B-sides, and "The Beautiful Ones" is Prince's greatest ballad and best vocal showcase IMO. I feel like if somebody listened to this tracklist and felt "meh" about it, I'd be pretty sure Prince just wasn't for them (and I definitely wouldn't take their music recommendations lol ).

Not all of us have so much time on hand as you seem to have. Maybe you should report me to the mods, if you keep up putting us all in place maybe they will elect you to be the next moderator. That is really what you are aiming for, ain't it? fart

I haven't reported you, I was just making a point and it was a good one and you know it.

I have zero intention to ever try and become a mod on this forum, I've got enough on my plate and I'm happy just being a member.

You trying to make a point (including the use of the infamous "rolling eyes" emoticon) is exactly what my problem is with you. Dude, if you don't like a thread then don't click on it. No one is forcing you to reply. There are people who have enjoyed this thread and took the effort to reply to it, and by doing so they have justified the existence of this thread. No matter what you think of it.

-

Besides that, every subject has been covered a million times already, so basically you can make your "point" in almost every thread here on the forum. Letitgo...

I just think we don't need thrice the same thread on the frontpage. Now I know that a few people here are starting to be mad at me for trying to put some common sense in the house. Common sense is very unpopular. I'm sorry but I do what I do so u know what, I'll do what I think is right and u'll do what u think is right because obviously none of us can prevent the other from doing what he does, awright? wink

Hey, mr common sense, out of the three threads you're complaining about this was the first to be made, give out in the other threads. In the meantime, lets see your list!

Cool, I am all for "live and let live" and that is exactly why I had a problem with your initial reply. Try to go easy on the 'rolling eyes' emoticon though, that one doesn't come across too friendly...
