QUESTION :::: The Unexpected / Wow - I'll Do Anything soundtrack?

I was listening to Prince's version of "The Unexpected / Wow" - which I have to say I really, really like (and would like to hear on record).

I know that there is a Liv Warfield version of this song - but I was wondering if there was a connection to the track previously listed as "Wow" which was purportedly part of the "I'll Do Anything" sessions, but which did not make it onto "The Vault" along with most of the other tracks from that period / project.

The lyrics from the track have kind of a conversational tone, which might be related to a musical-type project - though the song (in its current incarnation) differs signficantly from the more jazz-vibe on the released "I'll Do Anything" tracks (though perhaps that was the reason for it not being released with them?)

Anyway - if anyone knows of a connection, or has heard the "I'll Do Anything" version of "Wow" and can refute this hypothesis, I'd be interested to hear about it.

deaks

I have only listened to a brief bit of the Liv Warfield version of The unexpected and have not been able to listen to Wow yet. I have heard good reports of both songs. I attended the two concerts at Manchester a few weeks ago and all we had to listen to before the concert was a bit of Miles Davies. In other concerts fans got to listen to new Prince songs. I'm not moaning however both concerts were unbelievable!!!!

Any way

I have most of the songs from the I ll do anything project which was very show tune like. The song Wow i can not remember the only song I go back to and listen to is I ll do anything. Sorry bud to not add any info to your theory

If you manage to track down a copy of the I'll do anything version, do yourself a solid and and unfind it before you listen to it. Once you've heard it, you can never unhear it.
