She needs to do some homework if she's describing his new album as a lot like Purple Rain... with lots of r&b and funky club bangers.

you cant comment Prince if you never heard of linn drum.

Linn drum is a legendary drum machine that is featured on all biggest hit songs by Prince.

And linn is backing the beat on large % of 80s popular music.

Songs like Purple Rain,When Doves Cry,1999,Little Red Corvette ,Raspberry Berret and many more are all linn based.

Nik West: Playing with Prince!

It seems this is going to be a regular 'new Bass player?' name

She was posted here in 2013 and posted before in 2012

I doubt she is Prince's new bass player

If you go back and LISTEN to the spreecast. She said it is a CLASSIC LIKE the Purple Rain album... Club bangers were definitely on Purple Rain, they were just 80s appropriate. The club bangers now are "current" appropriate... and the Linn drum machine? She didn't say she didn't know what that was... She said "excuse me? I didn't hear you."This girl is 24 years old.. would you expect her to know EVERYTHING about Prince? NO, she's a bass player and being a close friend of Nik's ...her cousin to be exact... Prince is not her only influence. She's a funk baby, but also a rocker and jazz lover...her infuences are much more diverse than just one person. Why is it her job to study an old school linn drum machine that is so irrelevant to the music she plays? I actually watched Purple rain WITH her and her homework was STUDYING THE STAGE PERFORMANCES OF PRINCE AND THE TIME. Keep in mind that she's a solo artist not just a bass player. She was watching it again to improve her choreography. SHEESH! Over anylizing everything makes no sense when you have no idea what was ACTUALLY said and what is ACTUALLY going on. ...and for the record... if Nik wanted to be in ANYONE'S band, she would have been there a long time ago. She's the top requested bassist in the world right now. She's like the Orianthi on bass. Dont short change her.

BOOM!, now THAT'S a reply! Well said dude, there are many on here who pick on the slightest things....i swear if prince scratched his nose on TV he would be ripped apart by this lot!. Tell her to beware if she's hopping on to the Purple Train...she will learn A LOT BUT the ride will be bumpy!!..her hair is THE best btw!

Its not polite to call me or anybody here on org a dumbass just because Nik dont know what linn is.

And Prince is just one of many musicians making

beats with linn drum.

Linn drum was used by funk musicians Prince Stevie Wonder,The Gap Band...

rock musicians like Queen Def Leppard ,Billy Idol ZZ Top ...

jazz musicians George Benson. The best selling album Thriller

have Lm1 beats all over it.

Linn lm1 or Linn drum can be heard on a big pop hits like Berlin

Take My Breath Away,Flash Dance by Irene Cara,Aha Take On Me,Human

League Dont You Want Me and so many more.

So you see linn is everywhere ,its not some obscure drum computer.

So in my opinion she should know what a linn drum is.but that

is just my opinion and everybody is entitled to have their opinion. But i would never say to you that you are a dumbass

We can have a healthy discussion anytime but lay off with that kind of language pls.

Thanks for the info. Nik is an awesome bass player. I love Nik's style. She stands out and from clips I've seen of her performances, I'm impressed. She has a cool stage presence with personality.

So are you saying that if she got the opportunity to join 3EG by replacing Ida she would turn that down? I find that hard to believe. If this is what is happening, I could see Warner Bros. having something to do with it because of Nik West's youth & Ida is a little older. Record companies always consider age, looks, etc. That is just reality. This would also signify there is a future for 3EG & they are not disbanding with the Plectrum Electrum album being released by Warner Bros. because I could see them saying something like that: "If you add Nik West we will sign you, but if not we will not sign you." Hannah & Donna had successful solo careers too themselves before they joined Prince's band. Plus, Prince has stressed that he wants to showcase the girls talent, not keep them in the background, which he has.

I tweeted her and asked her about watching PR - she replied she already knows all the bass parts of all the songs but was learning the choreography - so to me it sounds sheay be part of a PR tour instead of Brown Mark so assuming the there will be reunion of the Revolution - all assumptions based on twitter replies so take with a pinch of salt 😉
