Has Prince run out of gimmicks?

Since Musicology every Prince release has had a

gimmick to attract attention. A chance at a golden

ticket. Free with a concert ticket. Exclusive to one

chain of stores. Free with a newspaper.

Is that whats holding up Plectrum Electrum?

Is the Prince management team having trouble

creating the excitement around a new cd?

Has Prince run out of gimmicks?

We're all still here talking about him, so apparently not. He always comes up with something unexpected, infuriating, fascinating, embarrassing, entertaining to keep audiences coming around.

Is it gimmicky or is he just dead set against being conventional? Doesn't matter to me as long as it's released somewhere.

Everybody stop on the 1...GOOD GOD! Uhh!

Ain't nobody going nowhere and don't convince yourself otherwise. Gimmick or no gimmick! I've yet to meet a former Prince fan because no one ever leaves completely.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

People hereabouts are most likely fed up with gimmicks anyways, they just want him to put out the music, "serve it up Frankie"

The man freaking GAVE AWAY a free live album last year, as well as a free live DVD if you care to download it from YouTube.

WTF are you talking about with "gimmicks"? Every artist should utilize such "gimmicks"!

WTF do Youtube videos have to do with selling cds?

I'm talking about the stunts Prince does to

publicize a new cd so people pay $ to him.

No gimmick might be a gimmick for Prince.

I wonder what kind of ideas have come up for a gimmick.

It's not easy to come up with an original gimmick nowadays.

the gimmick this time around is: release the lead single WITH a video about 1.5 years

PRIOR to the album ("fixurlifeup"), go on a hit and run tour 'to celebrate the release of

Plectrum Electrum" then pack up the tour, go home, do tv promotions and magazines

playing either songs from the album or talking about the album, then not release the

album, but release a single that isn't even on the album. that's a lot of gimmick right

there.

There's no such thing...RodeoSchro was presumably talking about the live clips that have been put up on YouTube over the last year or so, most of which are snippets of songs. So if you're interested in a generally-crappy-quality live DVD with almost all incomplete songs (and 12 versions of Let's Go Crazy) then yes, there's a "live DVD" worth of stuff.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

There's nearly an hour's worth of complete versions of many of his greatest songs on youTube. I didn't count the snippets.

I can't help it if you guys are missing this. But it's there, and it's free.

Something in the Water 4:45

Let's Go Crazy 6:26

Chaos and Disorder 6:33

Cause and Effect 3:33

The Sweeter She Is 4:47

Musicology 2:51

Bambi 2:31

Days of Wild 3:20

Crimson and Clover 2:55

Guitar 4:01

She's Always In My Hair 10:02

There's 51:54 of live music, not counting the stuff you could get from the live feeds over last summer.

Going public that he's a lesbian should be a good gimmick.

Not for us, we have known that for years already.
