AUTO-matic Appreciation

I've been rockin' this song for about a week. It's my treadmill jam.

I remember this song used to be on a Honda Scooter commercial WAY back in the day. I think Grace Jones was on the scooter in the commercial.

This is SUCH an undervalued song!!

Prince has a way with getting his point across in a "desperately hungry" way. But this song just ROCKS, even though he's a submissive little creature.

I'll never understand how such a little man can muster up such intense lyrics with bold confidence.

Great... great... song!!

I'll GO DOWN ON YOU... all night long. It's automatic!

Splendid!!!!!!!!!

This has got to be in my all-time top 20 Prince jams!

Any idea who he wrote this song about? I'd love to know the backstory. Or maybe he was just a perverted nymph who just needs to get it out.

And the video too! lol Love it!

The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

.

the thing that helps makes that line splendid is Jill's response

Something about the ladies voices in his music then

Steamy song

Listening to the 8.1983 live

.

Prince: I'll go down on you all night long, it's automatic

Jill: You Will?
Prince: Yes I will, babe

Automatic music video selected snapshots

This is my favorite Prince song of all time. Epic new wave funk love song masterpiece. It's dark and atmospheric with a killer groove underneath all the synth layers. It always mezmerizes me and I never get tired of it.
~And even when I'm right, I'll be wrong...it's Automatic too.

This is a song that didn't grab me the first time I heard it. Didn't hate it, but if I went to listen to "1999" it was for "Delirious" and the title track. But then one day, YEARS later, I was letting the disc just play through, and "Automatic" CLICKED in my head. Now it's one of my absolute faves.

.

Funny how a song can leap out of the background and vault to the top of your list, ages after you first heard it.

I love this song and always had, thank God for my video bootleg that has the uncut video with its sado machisistic themes, the cigarettes on Princes chained up chest are cool and it is some sexy shit.

I love the lyrics, "Baby when u cry, I cry Boo Hoo, that's Automatic too oo - oo"

"We are going to have to torture you now"

And the dancing and the keyboards and Linn keeping it going, I just wish I could back to late 82 and see him perform it on stage in front of me.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

They weren't The Revolution then. It was all Prince...Only live version eye liked was the benefit concert one at First Avenue in 83...It was raw & funky....Eye prefer Prince as a One-Man-Band...
