Will The Original 7ven "motivate" prince to do a really good new album?

WELL NOW! After many years, THE TIME (as "The Original 7ven") came along and in 2011 dropped a DOUBLE ALBUM worth of absolutely sparkling, stellar material that arguably takes Prince to SCHOOL both song-wise AND production-wise.I find it interesting that Prince basically "created" the 'monster' that is "The Time" clearly to be his own foil - that is, a "nemesis" that he had complete control over. Brilliant. But now........ this Nemesis is no longer under his control, has taken on a life of it's own, and has become a real-life nemesis (musically speaking). Morris gets his revenge, and - as players and producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis CLEARLY get their "revenge" at long last!!Do you think that with the release of "Condensate", Prince is going to be a lot more careful than he has in years past because he knows he has to COMPETE with the STELLAR material on "Condensate"?Or will he back down?!Discuss!

I listen to Condensate more than any album that Prince has put out since 3121.

Their album was really good and is a lot of fun. It was nice to see all the original members back together again. To me, it picks up right where they left off with the segues and some of the "frontman shtick".

Like a sadness to the songs?? Not saying that's bad, just an observation. Would you agree??

No.I doubt that cd had any effect on Prince at all.

Who knows - he may not have even listened to it.

Has he ever made any comments to indicate he has?

It's no secret how much I love The Time, and all of the members individually.

But "Condensate" was decidedly mediocre. One single, then the whole project fell apart again.

If there's going to be another Time album, Prince needs to be involved IMO.

Same here, I love and respect each and every one of the Time members and loved most of their solo outputs but that album was really, well, as said above, average AT BEST. I doubt anything on Condensate is of a nature to impress Prince, ANYTHING. fDeluxe have been doing an impressive work with Gaslight, but Condensate was a MAJOT disappointment as far as I'm concerned. Now I know many people here worship this album, but I really have no idea why...

Although I really enjoyed Condensate and think it was more coherent and better produced than any album by Prince in many years, I don't think Prince will see that album as competition, especially not now almost three years after its release.

Let's not forget the Condensate album bombed, and that would be all the excuse he needs to have to just write off the album as 'failure', and no competition for his own new music. I am sure that if the album had been promoted better and had become a surprise hit, Prince would have been pissed off in a big way. Only then it might have inspired him to up his game, definately not now three years after its release and certainly not after it has bombed the way it did.

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I hope it does. Even though I have enjoyed the 3rd eye girl stuff...none of it is nearly as entertaining or fun as Condensate. I am still listening to that one on a regular basis. I really like Fdeluxe's stuff too. AM Static is awesome.

according to one of the members of the Time. Yes he did and he sent them a message that he liked the album.

Why would it? He probably gave it a few listens over a couple of weeks like most of us did. It's weak. At best, It might inspire him to make a mediocre album. To be honest, I doubt he's given a seconds thought to it.

Condensate is outstanding but I don't see how this is a discussion three years after the fact.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Prince has done alot better than Condensate as of recently. I love the Time/O7 and admire each individual, but Condensate was a big disappointment and probably could only motivate Prince to fall asleep.

Toast To The Party Girl and Cadillac are better than any of Prince's 3EG-era material IMO.

Well i just hope that people that feel the Condensate album was average, i kinda agree maybe a bit better than average (never crazy about the Time's albums anyway) But i hope those same people arent digging tracks that have been coming from Prince like "Breakfast Can Wait" and this new song with Zooey cause they are way below average, just bad songs.

That may be. But those guys had 20 years to put together some songs and they only came up with 2 that are better than what Prince has released in the last year alone?
