Are we allowed to discuss bootlegs (LA Diaries)?

Assuming anyone has a copy from whatever source that will remain nameless, are we allowed to discuss bootlegs here?

Apologies if not - I can only ask.....

I am under the strong impression that discussion IS INDEED allowed. Unfortunately, I can not discuss it with you since I cannot find said material.

What is really funny about this is that Prince said he doesn't mind fans sharing the music, but we all know he might say that, but he loves calling the lawyers, so prince.org simply has to protect themselves. We would not want this site to be shut down.

Sorry, didn't listen yet. But they're behind me on the floor.

Thanks for the tip though.

Maybe this next weekend should be a listening one, with some wine...

I started this thread and then disappeared so apologies.

I quite like this set - great sound and some quite interesting guests. Worth grabbing in my opinion.

The 90 mins disc is a pain though - as is a big glitch between PTFM and Inglewood Swinging where it sounds like something was cut.

Are these *real* soundboard recordings? ...

Haven't bothered with "LA Diaries", but I have a copy of "LA61" -which CLAIMS to be soundboard- and I sincerely have my doubts about the source of the recording. They certainly are very sharp and clear recordnings, yet they lack a certain "punch" or definition in its sound. My gut feeling tell me these could be some very special audience recordings. With "very special" I'm pointing at the possible SOURCES (not the actual quality itself). Wouldn't be surprised to learn these were taped in front of an isolated PA system somewhere inside the building, for instance.

Said this, I'm not bashing these releases nor the label. These are indeed quality discs it seems. Yet I *question* the real source of the so-called SOUNDBOARD recordings.

What do you think?

These dont really lack punch - I dont have LA 61 to compare it with (though would love to get it) - but there are occasional patches of background static and the previously mentioned jump between two tracks which sounds like something was edited presumably because it was unlistenable.

So to my untrained ear it does sound like a soundboard, but you may be right and its just an excellent recording from an isolated source.

Perhaps someone who is known for 'tweaking' existing bootlegs will take a look at it.......
