Why does Prince piss off so much?

Off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 examples when P has been performing on stage and then just nonchalantly walks off at the end without any warning or acknowledgement to the audience..

That's a cold azz Prince move, no other performer could get away with it..Maybe Liam Gallagher from Oasis

1. R&R Hall of Fame, While my guitar gently weeps- P just throws the 6 string in the air and pisses off

2. 1985- Baby I'm a star- A gazillion people from the audience at some award show are dancing with P. P jumps off stage puts hand in the air and pisses off

3. Muthafucka can't even stop doin that shit in his music videoes- Check out a pissing off Prince at the end of TMBGITW

No he's not...he's really not.

It's 'get me a camel syndrome'...he's lived in a bubble all his life, got exactly what he wants when he wants it and has no sense of everyday living reality. He walks off because, in that second he probably thinks "bored now".

Because in contrast to his enormous amount of talent and passion for music, he doesn't seem to have much empathy and is pretty much disconnected from how his actions/words hit other people. I think the whole mystery image was there with good reason; let him make music, dance and perform but don't put him in contact with other people because it doesn't work - for both parties.

He has a true artist personality; his view on the world comes from within and is less influenced by his surroundings as it is with most other people. He doesn't have patience or much understanding for people who see things differently. As it propelled him into the position where he's in, he doesn't see the need to change that. His view have been proven right (to him) by (past) success.

But it does mean that on ocassion he'll push all the wrong buttons with his audience, press etc. Not willingly so (I think) but in his job, this sort of behaviour is excused and celebrated.

You can't honestly believe that. If you have ever seen him bury his face in his hands from embarrassment when thousands of people are applauding him, you would see that deep down, he genuinely appreciates it. I think it's just his way of being cool. I was "pissing off" with my last comment.. I do realize he can come off as arrogant but that's just part of his stage personality. Some people take him too seriously.

^You are both right! Of course all performers love the applause and are grateful for it whether they show it the way Prince does or put on a pokerface like Bob Dylan does. And all performers have moments of pissing off the audience. I saw Sly Stone at the North Sea Jazz Festival and he wasn't on stage for more than 20 minutes. And we'd been waiting for that for 30 years!

Its part of the performance. Also, its a part of leaving the audience wanting more...purposefully leaving em hang in builds a desire.

Sometimes in a cut, the sound will just dramatically stop in a wonderful cliff dropoff moment...its akin to that... A drop off. ure bumpin and thumpin and BAM...the floor drops out from under you.

Its largely theatrical...like the stage and houselights turning off.

I don't see it as a piss off moment. And when a ni@@a throws down a solo like at the rrhof...the guitar was too damn hot to hold...he HADDA drop that $hit like it was hot.

To be clear, the OP is asking why Prince pisses off (quickly departs) rather than pisses off (makes angry).

I haven't a clue why Prince does it, but I think it's kinda cool.

It's seems to me that practically everyone understood the OP's use of language and everyone addressed that very issue. Thank for explaining it anyway I guess.

Someone remembers his performance of "Partyup" on SNL 1981? Man, that exit after the last shout "We donĀ“t wanna fight no more!!" is priceless. The best ending ever!!! Badass!!!!
