Prince was never on the Kobalt artist roster but he's already on the Epic artist roster. Click artist at the top of the page and scroll down to the Ps. Funny thing is; when you click Prince's name it takes you to the 3rd eye girl website. I don't know if that means they are going to release 3rd eye girl along with another project or if this song will be on 3rd eye girl. They may have just linked it to the 3eg site, because it's the only website Prince has right now. Anyway it looks like Prince and Michael Jackson are label mates.

That would explain the meeting with LA Reid we heard about during the NYC listening party. I really hope this works out.

So indeed it was not just 'friends' but he was networking and more...

So indeed something changed when he went to London to 'celebrate' the release of the album.

(Or it was a bold lie as there wa sno deal at all at that time.)

Daft move from the musical genius but marketing-muddled Prince. Gets us all fired up for a rock album release then steals its thunder with a cookie-cutter made-for-TV track. No focus, man.

I think I predicted elsewhere that Plectrum Electrum will be released as an afterthought in a few months. Sounds like Prince is already moving on...

This 'ain't a hit single either. The vocals did this one in. Anyone without much knowledge of Prince (Camille) will think they're listening to a joke chipmunk record. Don't believe me? Go read most of the reviews for F.U.N.K on itunes. And the other girl just can't sing.

So, we're off to a cracking start.

well maybe it is a double album after all, but reading the mojo article, is doesnt seem likely

When Prince previewed Lotusflow3r to some journalists he mentioned nothing about MPLSound being bundled with the release.

However, those vocals by the actor in the New Girl could mean that it's really just a one-off single release for Prince. I suppose it's also possible that he wasn't planning to release another album, but judged by the positive reactions the track has gotten he's now quickly putting together a whole record of material like that (it's not like he's going to run out of material recorded already).

Kinda like 'filler' if there ever will be a proper promotion for the 3EG album.

So far, Prince has worked with EMI, Arista, Columbia, Universal and now Epic Records since leaving Warner Bros. He'll probably release something on Interscope and be label mates with Eminem next.

As long as he releases something a little meatier then I think there is nothing wrong with a catchy little diddy that people sing along to. My daughter listened to it once and is already singing it none stop.

It is so rare that he is releasing a
catchy pop single that nobody can complain...

The next one will probably be Funk N Roll,
so for me that works.
It is really a song that makes you happy:)

That's what i'm saying. It's produced by that Josh also......you're all encouraging him to continue down this embarrassing route.

He sounds like Katy Perry. This is total dumb-down and an awful production in general.
It's clear Prince is confused as to where he should be or what he should be doing today, but encouraging a track produced by someone else that sounds like any other shit on radio is just depressing.

Cheesy track. There is no way in hell this will be a hit. This is not "hater" talk, just reality. I listen to almost every type of music on the radio when I am out driving, and as much as people bitch and moan about the state of music on the radio, there is nothing this atrocious on ANY format radio station.

[Edited 3/13/14 17:18pm]

I would LOVE it if he would release a GOOD pop song. He's written so much good and catchy songs in his career. But this song is a stinker. You know, I would be proud if a good prince song becomes a hit, but I don't lower my standards and pretend to like every fart that's coming out of his majesties behind.

He's DESPERATE to have a hit again. And therefore he'd even scrap his 3rdeyegirl project. First he promotes this 3rdeyegirl thing for over a year, and the first thing he releases with a major is this travesty.

What I'd love is an extended version a la Kiss or Mountains - take in a totally different direction.

...in 1996. I hope LA Reid isn't gassin' Prince about this song having him think it's actually going to be a pop hit. You guys really think this is the track that's going to bring him back to the top of the charts after a 20 year absence? Come on now! lol

As exciting I am/was for the 3rd eye girl material, this song is truly not worthy Prince's creative energy ... oh wait, it is created by him ... what's happening ....
