Why no outrage over 3rdeyegirl's Somethig In the Water?

I guess it's not ok to link to it, but I'm referring to the clip on the official 3rdeyegirl youtube account of Something In The Water live in Manchester. Who is the azzhole on keys and what the hell is he playing? Really what are they all playing? That sounded like a practice band looking at charts. It's great to see Prince has personally stepped up his front man game to an acceptable level, but his guitar solo was awful. It pains me to say it but I think this was their attempt to modernize the song to todays pop radio standards, and uhm, no they didn't nail it.

The 'asshole on the keys is drummer Hannah's husband...I'm really not sure what he brings other than perhaps making sure the band is happy (I think Donnas fella is in tow too) ...but he seemed quite pleased to be on stage whacking a cowbell when I saw him...'like a dog with 2 dicks' I believe the saying is

That's Hannah's husband Joshua. He plays an amazing cowbell too! lol

Believe me, Prince personaly was killing it, except the guitar solo, which was bland. But I thought he was excellent other than that. I'm excited to see what he does on Arsenio. But the bass player sounds like she don't know what to do next, and is playing in anticipation of Prince giving her a cue change. So she's on ice worried she may fukk up something. And Josh is... geez guys... how can I explain how bad this guy is? This guy is WORST than Kirky J, worst than Harmonica Dude, he is the most UNSKILLED person to EVER touch an instrument in a Prince band. And as I type that, I'm mindful of the Act I and Act II tour where Tony M actually PLAYED ACOUSTIC GUITAR.

Josh, the laptop DJ guy. OMG, how did Manchester applaud that? Shame on you Manchester. I know he was hard to see hiding in the shadows to the right of the stage, but where were your ears, gang? I'm afraid laptop JOSH, is, well for me anyway, he is beginining to symbolize the part of the 3rdeyegirl concept that's so perplexing. On it's surface, 3rdeyegirl should RAWK, but the new compositions are unsettling to say the least. Does anyone know what Josh's role is in shaping the new material? I'm starting to think a lot of this new stuff is Josh's handiwork and for Prince, he isn't vested too much in 3EG except as a way to maybe freshen up his sound and give the rock critics another nugget to chew on. I don't think he cares too much ow the new tracks are received.

Prince used to have Lisa Coleman. He used to have Dr. Fink and Jimmy Jam. Now he has Laptop Josh.

That's somewhat reassuring. I can only base my opinion on that performance. I have heard his remixes and I don't care for those. 3rdeyegirl seems to be a lot about Ableton Live/ ProTools style remixing of prexisiting songs. I'm beginning to think Josh is responsible for that element. Not Prince.

I did happen to catch Joshua playing piano in a hotel room after some European show in 2013 from a live spreecast, and it was really good. However, when I saw the 3rd Eye Girl shows in Minneapolis, he came jumping up and down banging a cowbell and I was like...WTF...who is that? lol

He did. He married Prince's drummer. lol

Well, I was lucky enought to see 3 shows in London over the last few weeks and I have to say that Something in the water was absolutely awesome live. One of the best reactions from the crowd each time too.

For those bashing Josh, all he's doing is filling a gap on keys every now and then and then having fun with the band smacking a cowbell. Was funny at KoKo during Endorphinemachine. It's not meant to be anything other than that, a bit of fun.

Ida doesn't know what to do next? Are you kidding? She is one of the best funk bass players Prince has ever had, she's amazing. Granted, she can't sing a note, but he's not asking her to. She sounds bloody exceptional imo.

"Something In The Water" at the London Shepherd's Bush show was quite literally the BEST live rendition of it I have ever heard. And I have heard plenty of versions of it.

I foresee Josh's roll evolving into a modern Jerome type foil to Prince on stage humour. In Manchester even Prince played cowbell at one point..... Mad night.

Prince did mention Josh's cowbell skills. Josh also did the splits if I remember rightly. 55 year old hips need looking after regardless of the diet and exercise.

Well, I just watched Josh on Aresenio and he was just as bad there as he was on the video from Manchester. There is no way this guy has pro level keyboard skills. No waay! If anyone has video that says otherwise II'm pretty sure Josh is another example of Prince riding trends long after they have passed. I defy anyone to listen to his parts on She's Always In My Hair and defend them. For you guys that are digging him, I think your standards are just a lot lower than mine. I can't remember the last time Prince was this energized so he more than makes up for this, but no one in 3EG is very impressive and Josh is the worst of a bad lot.

I didnt pay much attention to Josh in Manchester but i think'Something in the Water' and 'Shes always in my hair' were the total highlights of the gig.

The crowd were totally on it and the whole feel was great.

'Something...' is still running round my head now nearly two week slater.

"Outrage". That's a strong word. Considering all of the outrage-worthy issues in this world, this aint one of them. Josh aside, I loved this video. ...and I'm really feeling this arrangement of "Something in the Water", which is one of my favorite P songs.
