Your favorite live version of "Baby I'm A Star". Let's discuss.

Hey everyone.

I remember my initial early exposure to Prince when he and The Revolution would play this song live on various awards shows and whatnot on national televison.

"Baby I'm A Star" - with it's extended jams, audience call-and-response, added percussion courtesy of the (then) newly-introduced Ms. Escovedo and that young 10 year old (?) man with the cap who would join the band onstage to dance - was always electrifying. There's really been nothing like it before or since (which also lends to the fact that whoever is in Prince's band at the present moment, is part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is a must-see event, but I digress).

Anyway, what are your favorite live versions of this 1984 classic?

there is only one version IMHO & thats the TV broadcast of the Purple Rain gig [Syracuse] Jesus that performance sums up P at this ultimate best. It was sheer perfection!, everything was off the scale - the band, the dancing, the crowd, the ejacualting guitar [!!], the song - it's like all his biggest influences melted into one person & he sprinkled it with his own unique purple magic dust!!

My favorite is the version that MTV showed shortly after the Purple Rain tour started, from Maryland (later released on the 20th Anniversay Edition of Purple Rain). The Syracuse version is good too. I would love to see the version from Houston, when they break into Blue Limousine with Brenda singing. The audio that is out there isn't too clear.
