Madhouse 6, I sometimes listen to it just for the drumming.

There are the obvious ones...Tamborine, Crystal Ball come to mind, but my favourite drumming is on Dirty Mind album, it's simple enough to let the songs and instrumentation breathe, it supports rather than dominates the music. Crisp and groovy with a hint of punch on tracks where it's needed, such as When You Were Mine. Head is just perfect.
don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

I was gonna say "2 Nigs United 4 West Compton" and "Dance On", but they were played by Shiela E.

According to Mr. Langebleu, you meant Prince's own drumming.

So, then, i would say, "Darling Nikki".

& "Sexual Suicide".

& "Another Lonely Christmas"

& "Tamborine"

& any beat he created on a machine

"Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends"

The version of Housequake from the SOTT movie has incredible playing by Sheila E.

I also like John Blackwell's playing on Family Name from the One Night Alone live box set.

Byron

Assuming you don't mean just Prince's drumming, I'd say pretty much the entire Rainbow Children album nod...

The OP could have meant drumming on any Prince songs regardless of the drummer.

Like Byron, I think much of John Blackwell's drumming on TRC is impressive.

I have to say the first four tracks on Parade - not 'cause it's outstanding or anything, but because he played all four tracks in one go, no stops. That's ballsy.

I like the drums on Shhh, eye hate u, Love 2 the 9's, The morning papers, sexy mf, daddy pop, dolphin, and everywhere as far as my favorites on drums. Those are the ones that come to mind right off the top of my head so those would be my favorites. Any others I would have to really think about so that would mean they didnt really standout for me.

the simpliest beats of those 1980- songs were what caught my attention the most like Lady Cab Driver

Lady Cab Driver (1999)

Darling Nikki (Purple Rain)

Tamborine (ATWIAD)

Dance On (Lovesexy)

Everywhere (Rainbow Children)

777-9311 (What Time Is It?)

Tricky (the Time Bside)

Indeed I did mean the drumming on any Prince song regardless of who was doing the actual drumming.

I like the simple drumming of New Position and When 2 R in Love. Not much effort but they just create a mood.. neutral
