Anyone else suspecting that Prince is gearing up to give away Plectrum Electrum to a UK based publication??

Like Planet Earth and 20Ten... or do you think he'll give the album a more traditional commercial release?

He's on the cover of Mojo magazine next month, perhaps they'll be giving away the album with that?

With Prince everything is possible, but I can't imagine Mojo doing that.

Some kind of music with Mojo would be amazing, but I doubt Plectrum Electrum. I was hoping we'd see it out today since it's Tuesday. It's probably best not to speculate until we actually see it released, hopefully soon!

I wonder if this album will ever see the light of day cuz Prince keeps postponing the release frequently so I think soon he will have lost interest in this prodject and (if we're lucky) we probably get a solo Prince album late summer/fall instead with a collection of both 3rdeyegirl songs and Prince songs

oh for cryin'out loud. this whole project is starting to get on my tits.

how many delays and changes has this project gone through already?

/

is it because they keep recording new stuff? surely they could just

release the album and stick new songs on the bsides of singles, like

in the good old days. or throw them up onto the 3EG site.

/

or is it just distribution that's a problem? but what about the deal he

inked with Kobalt? surely distrubution must have been greenlighted

a while ago.

/

does he want to promote it first? but why a tour with lots of press for

an album that won't be released until months after the tour is over?

/

seriously, i've never sighed as much and rolled my eyes as often as i

have in relation to this project falloff

Andy's Superconductor was constantly being pushed out, but did get released eventually, so there is hope

I still want Superconductor Reloaded. Hoping they'll find
some way of releasing it in the course of the year.

Well didn't he peeve Universal by giving away Planet Earth? So it wouldn't be out of the question, but I think not. And I doubt Mojo could afford him or have the circulation for him to bother. Plus they're not scummy or right wing enough like his previous fine choices of publication.

Depends on the contents of the CONtract, of course. wink

P did give away his album in 2007 via the newspapers, but there are no signs yet of a repeat, let alone of an album at all.

er

I always like the Mojo-CD's. My guess is it will be a funk compilation entitled "The tracks that inspired Prince" or something like that.

Remember the old days when he bitched and moaned about not being allowed to release his music. Now he can release whatever he wants and doesn't. Only in Prince world. Do you suppose he's finally come to realise what the record companies did actually do for him and their reasons for wanting to release less than he wanted?

RIP sad

That always surprised me too! As soon as he was "free" he released fewer records then ever before!

Didn't P promise in those mid-1990s interviews how things would be so much better if he were in charge? How we'd get music the next day instead of a year later? Funny how that didn't work out that way, hm?

or is it just distribution that's a problem? but what about the deal he

Wouldn't be surprised if those guys listened to the album he submitted and told his to record some actual tunes if he expected them to pay for anything (e.g. tour, promotion,..). Note how this UK tour suddenly revives 3EG after months of downtime, note how even his manager barely knew anything about it beforehand,...

ha! prince is already 2 steps ahead of us. first there was talk of "plectrum electrum"

then that project changed completely, then there was "Big City" from another album

which seems to be abandoned now, yet "plectrum electrum" is back on the hot plate

for the moment biggrin so he's already worked on an entirely different project AND he's

ditched that falloff

I seriously doubt there's an actual 'album' awaiting release. But if there is, I suspect Prince will do something truly wicked like release it one track at a time on itunes over the next several months, which would be a new low.

Yes he will release it one track at a time when he realises that the interest 4 a new Prince album is low among the general public, and why's that? cuz Prince dosen't promote the album, no one can be interested in an album they never heard of
