A brilliant marketing move would be to work the album release into the script of the New Girl episode and follow that with a commercial after the credits roll.

I think by Monday evening we should know everything about the album (release date, trackist, first single...). If not it will be two massive chances (New girl and London press conference) wasted.

I'm pretty sure we won't know shit. Or maybe a couple of London tour dates from the press conference.

I never said he was dumb....far from it. However when it comes to great marketing opportunities he often makes poor choices. I hope I'm wrong in this case ..but I highly doubt it

He makes the choices he wants.. when is the last time you launched an album and made marketing choices..Matter of fact, when is the last time you did exactly what you wanted in your professional career? Just curious

Makes sense for it to be released tomorrow or Monday . Especially because they'll be playing a new song off the album on New Girl.

If Prince would go the Beyonce route and deliver a

downloadable project he could do it with no advance notice.

Even Kobalt could be in the dark. Advertise it during the

New Girl episode and make it available on Feb. 3rd. Then

press the cds starting next week. It could happen that

way but its risky. The music release could get lost in the post

Super Bowl news. If there isn't a decent demand for the

downloadable it could be seen as a flop before the physical

copy is even available. Also the first musician to drop a cd with

no advance notice is going to have sales figures compared to

Beyonce and that could also look bad since her sales were

so impressive.

Wow. Some people will laugh at anything. I always find this kind of pedantry tiresome and predictable.

Why wouldn't Prince make a Superbowl commercial to advertise Plectrum Electrum??? It only costs $4 million for 30 seconds. smile

Beyonce just dropped her album with no promotion or advance notice . . . so it's possible. I think if Prince did it, it would somehow be received as "copying" of sorts, so he probably won't . . .

The logical choice would be to release it tonite or tomorrow. But we all know Prince is not logical in his thinking. I doubt he has anything else going on that would provide this much buzz.....I hope he does. Fingers crossed

Personally I'd prefer if he launches a big promotion campaign tomorrow rather than releasing the album, but we'll see. It might be just more astral travelling...

is all about. a tracklist and such etc etc.

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
