So if I made an animated video for "Bob George"...

Could I just upload it without any audio with "kit" instructions for viewers to find the song and add the audio themselves... so I don't run into copyright police!

Here's an animation example I'm working on for something else: https://vimeo.com/84682452

I think t would be awsome. I alwasy thought all of the Camille stuff would lend itseld perfectly to funky animation. Especially in the style of the supposed album cover with the funky crude stick figures.

Cool, I'll make one.

I'm really wondering about is if it would catch on because of Prince's notorious cease and desist attitude, or even prince.org's fear/policy of no offence to Prince's legal team with my add your own audio method.

If it had no music or copyrighted material, it would just be a bunch of pictures, wouldnt it?

Right! I should do it right? It would be like one of those youtube videos after their bot has taken away the music. But all anyone would have to do is add the track to it to watch it properly. Build it. Kind of like an IKEA approach. lol

would it have some sort of cue to know where to place and sync the recording?

I would think I would make the animation start right from the start of the track to keep it simple. 00:00:01 = 00:00:01

It's the single strongest example of Prince as an artist he's put to record. Artist... not pop star or conventional musician. I used to be obsessed with it. Sorry you don't like it! confused

Linking as in a URL? I wouldn't link to anything. Is Black Album on Itunes?

If u called it summat like Gob Beorge we would know what song u were on about and then surely it's not infringing anything? Sounds like a really cool and innovative idea. U could start with a count down for when we need to press play maybe? Good luck with it!

It will be a while to do this right, I have to finish the current animation project due in a few months, so Bob George wouldn't be until late Spring (to start)...

But what images do you imagine during the song? I mean obviously the song paints a picture of a narrative, but what do things look like? Colors? styles?

Post pics!

This will probably sound weird, but when I picture Bob George animated, I see claymation style, like Eddie Murphy's short lived series "The PJs" or those California Raisins commercials in the '80s.

In more general terms, the animation should be quirky, with dark tones, shadows, etc. The song is funny and funky, but also quite dark and even a bit unnerving. The animation should reflect that. Not quite Tim Burton level creepy, but something a bit like that. JMHO.

I can't wait to see what you come up with! cool
