Does "Undisputed" refer to "Arms of Orion" when commenting on commercialization?

At approximately 2:05 in "Undisputed", Prince says "Heavy rotation never made my world go round, Commercialization of the music is what brought it down." Then at 2:14, you hear a thin, chimey keyboard play an odd melody. Recently it occurred to me that this thin, chimey keyboard sounds strikingly similar to the final seconds of "Arms of Orion"

Has anyone else ever made this association? I found no previous reference to this in the Org archive of this forum.

This is VERY interesting to me, because if this is true, then Prince is making a critical statement that with the Batman soundtrack, the music turned closer to a business than his art.

Any thoughts?

Nah. I feel you're reading too much into this. I did listen to both the part in Undisputed and the end of Arms of Orion but I see no connection.

I think he is just playing something random and kooky to get across how uncommercial he sees himself.

I guess the Op is talking about the somewhat neo-classical parts in both ways. I don't think they're any relation. What P meant (if anything) by putting classical stuff at that particular moment of Undisputed has always been a mystery to me. Though it is known he's watched Amadeus and I may be mistaken but if I think I remember that Mozart had to comply with the demands of the aristocracy that paid for his work back then? Not sure, I haven't seen the movie in 20+ years. It may be because of that but I'm probably just trippin'

^^ I think you guys are really overthinking things. The fact that he's singing about commercialisation of music before playing a few seconds of classical tinkering suggests he really is just making a point about how "free" he is to make music that doesn't pander to commercial trends. I really think it's as simple as that.

On a seperate note, I really think Undisputed is underrated around these parts.

Just listening to both versions. I used to think they were decent, but The Moneyopolis Mix is way better for sure.

I always thought the cheap harpsichord sound was a reference to popular RnB at the time (No Scrubs etc), all of which was using that sound.
