OUTRAGEOUS! Eddie M completely rips off Prince

Check out the forward hip thrusts at 2.20 and 2.58 of this video clip a la Prince's Hot Thing thrusts, Eddie M is completely ripping off Prince with these dance moves! Not to mention that the video is a direct rip off of the symbolism of 7, Alphabet St, I Wish U Heaven, Raspberry Beret and When Doves Cry! I am wondering why Prince has not ordered a Cease and Desist of this video for copyright infringement. Fake a$$ mfs!

however bad it is, it's interesting to see HOW INFLUENTIAL Prince was back then, it's almost like MJ used Eddie as a Prince stand in.

Not really, that song is LAME!!! if anything Eddie is ripping off the whole lovesexy vibe with the flying peace symbols, and he looks as gay as fuck. If he's doing Prince its pretty sad.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I doubt Prince would care at this point. I don't expect Prince to go on a Kanye West-like rant and curse out Eddie Murphy for using sounds typified by Prince that was made popular more than a quarter century ago.

You missed the fact that Prince's scream from "Thieves In The Temple" is sampled 10 seconds into the song.

I like this track anyway.

There's a story about this to do with Prince.

?uestlove from The Roots got hold of some behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of this video. At one point, Eddie tells MJ about how much he loves Prince. MJ replies, "Yes, he's a genius".

That was interesting. Someone should inform those children that they can still file suit for the violation that is this song! There is no statute of limitations for bad music!

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

LOL - I was thinking the same when I saw the topic.

I have had Eddie Murphy's Love's Alright album since '92 and I enjoyed it back in the day. Dusted the CD off this past spring and I was taken aback at how much I loved listening to it all these years later. Positive lyrics and melodic songs are found on this collection. it put a smile on my face and got me moving. He may not be the strongest singer but I find the songs quite enjoyable to listen to. "Whatzupwitu" is great to sing along with. MJ hooked the background vox up somethin' sweet.

Eddie's a long-time, fan of Prince's music and my understanding is that they are on good terms. (It was Charlie Murphy--Eddie's brother--who recounts the now-infamous story of Prince winning the basketball game against Murphy and his friends, which was satirized on Chappelle's Show--and later sourced for the cover of "Breakfast Can Wait" .) I expect Prince is all good with this song and the accompanying video. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. cool

Yes very misleading thread as I thought was the other Eddie M too

Regarding the video...WTF is that? What is the story behind this awful song and total Lovesexy vibe rip off?
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

I sincerely apologise for the misleading nature of this thread, as it would appear many of you were expecting Eddie M and not Eddie Murphy... Regretfully, Otter
