The video is awful, and if I remember the sound quality is really poor.

It's a great selection of songs, but the video and audio are terrible. It looks as though it was filmed on someone's cell phone. Just think of how awesome if could've been if it was filmed correctly.

My favorite Part(s) of the Whole package are...

1. Prince doin' 'Ozzy Ozz-BURN'

2. A solid copy of PRINCE DOIN' LED ZEPPELIN

3. "The Ride"

...

OK, the whole damn thing is good lol

.

How else do you remeber a concert???

It's always a bit hazy

Prost!

It could have been brilliant. It's quite a poor representation of such a high quality period.

I have to agree that the video was poopy. It was too bright at times and even though calling a cellphone video is a bit of an exageration it DID have a certain iPhone video quality to it.

The SOUND, on the other hand, I remember as being petty crisp and clear. I could distinctly hear each instrument and it seemed pretty decent.

May be I don't remember it correctly, though. I didn't care much for the setlist so I haven't watched it too much.

A real missed opportunity, a very shoddy DVD release.

If you ignore the substandard cameras used, terrible picture quality (partly as a result of poor encoding), the lack of coverage for sections of certain songs, iffy camerawork and the questionable sound quality - if you can ignore all that, then there is still the issue of the butchered setlist. No ONA show was this short, the rhythm of the show is completely out. The biggest problem with this release is that it fails to properly represent the experience of going to a One Nite Alone show.

does the "cd" have the whole show on it? I was 4th rw for it & it was one pf the best shows i went too & i've been to many. The dvd version released was a piss poor representation. Power Fantasic was epic & a ridiculous funky version of days of wild should of been on here among many others from that night. If theres a cd of the enitre show I'd love to hear it.

Again, the POINT of the dvd is...

The concert is in the RAW.

He wanted the most naturalistic dvd you can get.

Every musician puts out overdub, etc etc etc but Prince
put magic on an open carpet ride!

For those who said it was not good quality ya wrong

It's the best IMPERFECTION, I wanna hear.

It is the best dvd out there RAW style, which is rarity.

Therefore, I LOVE IT!

It's not exactly RAW when half the setlist is missing. And there's an entire sequence (Maceo's solo in Gotta Broken Heart Again iirc) where there is apparently NO CAMERA on Maceo, so they instead we get a series of jarring still shots.

And it's an embarrassment playing it on a decent size TV screen - naturalistic would be an image that looks like the reality. The colours are so muted.

No. This was not intended at all. It's just a piss poor production. He had the best tour in a decade, fans raved about it. Every other musician would've decided much earlier to document this legendary tour and put some effort in the production of a dvd. But not Mr.Sloppy.

Instead of hiring some professionals he handed out some digital cameras to staff members to film this concert AT THE LAST MINUTE. Of course they couldn't use everything of that shaky, unprofessional material and needed MONTHS to edit it. And the outcome is just sad. This could have been great, but prince messed it up.

I would have to agree with you. I saw the show in houston and this show in vegas. The vegas show doesn't come close to the ONA experience we share.

I completely agree! I was 2nd row center for this show and it was amazing to experience in person, but I was so disappointed to find that the 3 hour show was cut down to just 90 minutes! That's half the show missing! What was he thinking? The ONA Live CD set is a much better representation!

This is why we have to be thankful for those "bootleggers" that have carefully documented Prince's live shows over the years. They may not be great quality (although they have gotten better as technology has advanced) but they are definitely a great record of some of the amazing experiences we have been blessed to witness over the last 4 decades, and they are "honest" as in a true uncut representation of the concert as it was witnessed!

Yes, exactly. And that's how shows should be presented - just as they were. But it seems that he cannot help himslef chopping shit up. And that DVD is just bloody awful. For a musician of his stature, his official releases are just plain embarrassing.

Thank Jehovah for the bootleggers

I'm pretty sure that was chopped up because the footage from the other songs was unusable.

And does anyone know why The Ride was a "bonus" and not just part of the regular DVD?

There is no excuse for the video and audio quality. We hear over an over again what a perfectionist Prince is when it comes to releases - it astounds me that he screened this and said oh yeah, run with it, this is how I want my art presented.

That said, the Strollin', You Want Me medley is aces.
