Prince performs Moonbeam Levels!

So Prince recently performed Moonbeam Levels at Smukfest, which is totally insane! Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would ever get to hear P perform this live, especially after 30 years. We might just see an official release after all (albeit re-recorded and 'reloaded'). Thoughts?

If he reloads this beautiful piece of musical perfection, then I shall be forced to reload my blunderbuss and go a-hunting for him.

OR it coulds be better than the original. There's lots of room for improvement, especially the opening lines. At least he was honest about not knowing where to begin. If he'd began I think he would've been faced with the reality of not knowing how to finish, either. Being good at music doesn't make you good at anything else without the same level of work and experience. One does not simple decide to write a novel as hough it were just a longer song.

If ever mr Prince tries a full version of this song, let him first do a full, long version very true to the original.

After that he can reload, remix and re-do to his liking.

He can invite Tony M.

And that swiss label has some remix people available to turn it into a club thing.

That's the whole point of the song in the opening lines...the sense of being lost for answers and craving for celestial intervention.

After Elvis Costello did his version of "Moonbeam Levels" which was horrific at the both the thought of him singing the song and actually singing the song, Prince probably wanted to cleanse the song and actually play it the way it's suppose to.

remember when he did "all day, all night" a few years back in paris?

iirc those shows were even 'named' that.

the song itself was never performed again after that and never got

another mention by prince.

him performing a snippet of moonbeam levels doesn't mean a lot,

unless he starts performing it regularly, which increases chances

that he might have dusted it off for use on the 3EG album. either

way, i'm just glad we already have the original, even if it's in poor

soundquality.

TRUE.

BUT I am also glad he played a snippet of Moonbeam Levels.

Ultimately, that must have been for us, the few hardcore fans.

And that comes across to me like a small, but significant, gesture.

Many folk seem to have a problem interpreting ML.
I've always thought it simple. There's certainly nothing overly cryptic, bar the imagery of the chorus, which is still pretty easy to decipher.
It gives an insight into Prince's insecurities. He hasn't really done that in years.

He said that he'll never keep diaries, to learn from his mistakes
Instead he'll just repeat all the good things that he's done.
Wow!!! Like seriously...WOW!!!!!

Just heard it, fantastic to hear! Even though I knew it was just a verse i was willing the band to break into the chorus. Great stuff and I hope it gets a full outing soon.

Well that was VERY brief (35 seconds?) but sweet.

By the way, this is not the first time he´s performed it live. The first ( and up until Smukfest only) rendition was at a concert in Universal City on March 23, 1983 (1999 tour).

Like that line too.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.
