Prince writing a new song with Esperanza Spalding and Chris Turner Just saw funkenberry tweeting Chris Turner. It appears Turner wrote a song with Esperanza Spalding and Prince last night.

Prince is on Janelle Monae's album in September, co-wrote a song with Esperanza Spalding, maybe D'Angelo is the next artist P collaborates with. Since Prince has hired a manager, he has been more open to working with challenging artists outside of his camp. Hope he keeps at it. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR | |

Hmmm...what 2 think of this then, I found a different tweet from somebody recording with Esperanza yesterday. I replied as u can see below and my tweet got a fav from Chris Turner...so is the song indeed about Guantanamo? .

Everytime someone works with Prince I can't help but wonder who ends up owning the master tape. Will Esperanza Spalding and Chris Turner defer to Prince's peculiarities just for the benefit of claiming they worked with an 80's legend? Was their contribution work for hire? Or maybe Prince worked for free, knowing his jazz resume could use some additional credibility? Does collaborating with Prince neccesitate that anyone change their name in order to avoid any conflicts down the road should Prince feel Esperanza and Chris are no longer entitled to contiue their careers, now that he has written songs for them? I would expect Esperanza has her own team that will protect her interests from Prince's predatory ways (see The Time, Revolution and The Family), but still...so many questions... | |
