Prince: Fdeluxe issue?

Seems Prince is taking the hit 4 the Fdeluxe tracks being removed from SoundCloud.

They are discussing on FB.

so between rehearsing, doing shows in chicago, getting ready for montreaux, doing webcasts he is scouring sondcloud for Fdeluxe songs...me thinks that if it is copyrighted material, a bot or something recognizes and takes down automatically just like it does with my copyrighted soundcloud material..nothing to see here.. why, for the life of me do t hey think they gonna get any traction airing their issues out

Because they are idiots. They do not own the music and cannot put it up on the internet. They can rant and rave all day it will change nothing. My guess is P has lawyers who handle this stuff for him just as if someone put his music in a T.V. show or movie without permission.

Wait a minute - is he removing fDeluxe music or Family music?

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

All of the above, apparently.

Okay, well...I can understand the Family stuff. But what kind of standing does he have to shut down the other? That makes no sense.

None, as far as I know. But I'm guessing Soundcloud just took everything down in response to Prince's legal notice.

Prince seems to have a personal vendetta against them and the Time. Sheila's videos never get taken down.

When a member of the group publicly states that they HATE U................Prince took it seriously.

My opinion of course.

It is unfortunate that this has happened but not surprising. Seems to me that it would have been expected. I also expect that their own music will be returning to soundcloud.

My theory is that part of Prince's method of madness in removing The Family/fDeluxe music is what Alan and Eric Leeds said in that Toure book "I WOULD DIE 4 U". They said some unflattering things about Prince and whether they are true or not, Prince comes across as a passive aggressive person who is not above exacting petty revenge.

Do Time performances of 1981-1984 songs get removed?

You may have a point. Especially when that person is the common link between the two groups.

Pretty good theory considering the overlap of members between The Time/Original 7even and The Family/fDeluxe.

"Here's some food for thought. Imagine the uproar if Elvis had soundcloud and couldn't put up 'Jailhouse Rock' or 'Don't Be Cruel'! Aretha without 'Respect', Paula Abdul without 'Opposites Attract' or Chaka sans 'I'm Every Woman'."-fDeluxe FB account

WOW! Certainly I feel for fDeluxe, but to put their music on the same caliber as Elvis, Aretha and Chaka is stretching it.

They weren't. They are saying their most important songs are not on soundcloud.

I was gonna say "Paula Abdul?!?!" but isn't Opposites Attract an Oliver Leiber production?

Other than this thread, I can't say I've followed this at all - but I don't see how Prince's camp could have any way of getting their songs removed if they're not his songs. Unless Soundcloud are just scared of lawyer letterheads in general and jump at the first 'Boo!' they hear. They can get the tracks put back up surely.

I wish other artists would go after him for playing their music the same way he goes after people that play his. He is so desperate and money hungry nowadays. What a miserable little troll he has become. Just pathetique!!

Can someone get in touch with Billy Cobham and ask him to send a takedown notice to 3rdEyeGirl.com for "Boomstratus"?

i never heard that. sad sad maybe tbat person just felt that way in the heat of the moment and then got quoted on it forever and ever in a kind of media echo way. i'm pretty sure most of us have felt a flash of anger like that at one point or another only to have that feeling cool out and leave after a while

I love the group, my issue is they should have struck when the fire was hot in 86. They chose not too. To try to have Prince co sign some shit years later is BS..

they tried. Prince kept that at home rehearsing endlessly.(read up your Prince history smile

Soundcloud and Youtube probably jump as soon as someone with any clout complains about rights issues. If I had a compnay like that and that large I'd probably jump too.

The relevant part to me is that he may have the right to shut it down (the Family stuff) but why does he have to have people on it so tight? Will it casue him problems in court? No. Will he lose money? No. Will it cause him any creative issues or any ownership problems? No.
So if you eliminate the obvious reasons why an artist would have their people causing issues (whether specifically or randomly) you have to start looking at personality issues. Whether it is Prince or anyone else.
