I recently heard that he has family ties who hail from Louisiana. I found that interesting.

I think that I read once that his dad came from Louisiana. If that's true, then Prince and I have something in common.

"Among the surnames that appear in Prince's family tree are Bonnell, Brooks, Hardy, Head, Jenkins, Nelson, Phillips and Shaw, so those sharing these names could be related."

Not that it matters, but didn't he state in the Tavis Smiley interview a few years ago that they didn't know who his mother's father was?

It reads that all 4 of his grandparents were born there.

Wow. I know of some folks with the last name of Jenkins, we were all from the same neighborhood, still do, and my mom told me that my dad was related to some folks with the last name of Nelson also, that were from the same area where I lived, but I never knew any of them personally. I've been wanting to search my family tree, and I just may do that now, because who knows what I'll find? However, I don't want to be related to Prince, because that would kill the crush I've had on him all of my life. lol

If there is relation, it would be somewhat distant, so it shouldn't matter too much. Of course, I'm from the south. wink

You spelled "Little Richard" wrong.

lol You almost got me on that one, but no, he does remind me of Jimi Hendrix in that pic, including the way he's been dressing lately. Actually I always thought at different times, throughout his career, he wore clothes similar to Jimi's.

[Edited 7/3/13 14:44pm]

My life has been crazy, so I only just spotted the magazine at newsstands yesterday. When I saw it I said "wow, looks like a blending of Little Richardand Jimi Hendrix's looks. (I don't know if Prince ever gives credit to Little Richard for influencing him, but he should. Then again Little Richard was quick to give himself credit for influencing Prince and Michael years ago).

DIAMONDGEEZA

Dont believe for 1 second he doesn't have any tech.Maybe not an i-phone(like all mindless sheep)but he will have a phone and a windows 8 pc at least to keep Tabs on his empire. He's been burned when he went through the NPG music online phase and the Lotusflow3r one too.And as for why a band like 3rdeyegirl and why rock??.i'm also thinking he's not been selling records like he used too so he had to do something.I love his work and always will but this ain't the 80's or the 90's so like everyone else he has to adapt. This ain't the end for Prince,it's only the beginning.Good Luck to him and 3rdeyegirl.its going to be a good year.In an ageist medium like music Prince could be the exception.<img src=" /><img src=" /><img src=" /><img src=" />

It is still on the stands and I was able to buy it yesterday. It is typical in that I love the pictures but hate the interview. As much as I love his music, I don't know if I would want to actually sit down and talk to him in person.

I recently came to that conclusion also. He seems to think he's infallible or something! Dude needs someone (like Tavis or Cornel) to 'GO IN' on him like Rae Dawn Chong recently did Ophrah!
