Thanks for the link. Interesting to hear what music he is listening to. As a former journalist, though, I gotta say that Prince would be frustrating as hell to interview! He plays so many games with reporters and doesn't really answer most of their questions. (His non answer to breaking Kirk Douglas' guitar is a prime example of this.)

Not to be pedantic but Richard Sanders is the president of Kobalt, not "an executive at NPG Records".

I was thinking, "who else runs NPG Records?" because I always thought it was just Prince. Thanks for clearing that up.

so now instead of playfully insulting his former male band .. he now talks down to his female band like they are a child .. "now now don't miss your cue again lil lady or purple prince is gonna have 2 spank u" .. glad to hear he shunned cell phones .. cept he's prolly lyin .. oh and so now donna grattis is better than eddie van halen or even niel young on guitar for that matter .. yeah right .. oops i mean .. gee if prince said it .. did they really play computer blue on this tour? what date was that?

Perhaps Prince should stop scheduling interviews after concerts and before parties. It probably wouldn't make much of a difference though.

And if his songs are truly like his kids, does that mean he loves the ones with curse words a little less?

He loves them, he just doesn't like them very much right now. (What parent hasn't said that?) lol

How do you, as a religious person, reconcile the religious impulse with what most of your songs are about, which is the sexual one? Prince responds, “We are sensual beings, the way God created us, when you take the shame and taboo away from it.”

Right on.

I ask how tech-averse he really is; does he have an iPhone? “Are you serious?” Prince says. “Hell, no.” He mimics a high-voiced woman. “Where is my phone? Can you call my phone? Oh, I can’t fnd it.”

lol

Goodnight, sweet Prince.

"we are sensual beings, the way God created us, when you take the shame and taboo away from it,” and continues that religion should be thought of like a force, an electro-magnetic one or like gravity, that puts things in motion. Then he says, “I don’t want to talk about this."

the cover to V - is "dreamy", it reminds me a bit of this:

[img:$uid]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/ecnirp2004/Prince/9d15043c-b961-47e6-b942-a20a32060902_zps8b838b30.jpg[/img:$uid]

^ altho I have to say...: the old pic with a young Prince -- from the "1999" era -- is way more sexxxy...... razz

But here more than 30 years later, Prince still looks great, eek

- and I am not even gay haha! cool

I think Prince looks really cool, and the interview was cool.

“This organization is diferent than most, in the sense that we don’t take directions from the outside world. It’s like a galaxy. The sun is in the center giving of energy, and everything revolves around it.” He talks about what it would be like if instead of the sun giving of energy, energy was trying to exert its force on the sun. That wouldn’t make a lot of sense. It would be, he says, like “meteors hitting a planet!” What makes much more sense is “a sun pulling everything around on its own axis, with information. The sun is information. Nobody really talks to me. Nobody talks to me a lot.” He points at Ramadan. “I talk to her. She talks to you. She talks to Richard. And so on and so forth. If I trust her, then you can trust her.”

^^

Sounds Like Prince to me, it works for him..Cool explanation surrounding the universe...But by far the best part of the interview is....

I ask how tech-averse he really is; does he have an iPhone? “Are you serious?” he says. “Hell, no.” He mimics a high-voiced woman. “Where is my phone? Can you call my phone? Oh, I can’t fnd it.”

I think one aspect of his band(s) that gets overlooked is that it is international: Denmark, Canada, U.S, Cameroon, Brazil, Sweden, Puerto Rican. It's like he's expanding on that early multi-racial template to make it global as well.

lol You almost got me on that one, but no, he does remind me of Jimi Hendrix in that pic, including the way he's been dressing lately. Actually I always thought at different times, throughout his career, he wore clothes similar to Jimi's.
