It's great that Prince is out there having fun with some new musicians and showing them everything he knows. They must be having a blast together. The girls seem really nice and cool too. And he really put a lot of energy into this song live.

As much as I really dislike the 'fro, in this video it doesn't look too bad. I realy like his jacket, a lot. Overall, the video's pretty good (and the song is pretty good - a million times better than that god-awful LOL - ugh!).

I just think it's an awful idea to have the lyrics so prominently displayed, because they're really easy to decipher and they're probably the worst thing about the song. I mean, they're not awful, but they're far from deep, and having them be such an integral part of the video just highlights how ... less than stellar they are.

I'm really diggin' this: reminds of old school stuff but with a total new spin. Love it..... The song is a great message, and the video is very visually stimulating and it's short and sweet and to the point....You go Prince, do what you do and keep on doing it........I love you!

How does someone who so consciously took themself in amazing directions earlier on in their career decide that this of even a relateable standard. I know the past is the past for Prince, but you would think someone who had videos to the caliber of say 'Diamonds and Pearls' era, could easily tell that this is a suuuuuuuuuuuuper shitty video. I don't really know who Sanaa Hamri is but, "directed". Spinning lyrics on the screen. If you directed videos for legendary musicians and that's the first trick you pull out, well fuck, I think you need to start over.

Im not ashamed to admit that I thourouly love this song and video.......I enjoy Prince's voice immensley and him being his true authentic self.......I got a laugh out of the whole thing..Prince prancing around on stage like a geriatric street walker with all that shiney inconsequencial granny bling..yeah...........totally age appropriate behaviour for someone left of middle age...........

I think he may of had a soft cushion to land on when he did his stage jumping thing...............

And I am a fan who enjoyed this last decade so much, au contraire 2 some fans here...who now seem 2 like this.TRC I can enjoy, ONA..live has great moments, I really love Musicology/3121, PE took a while but like half of it now, same 4 Lotus, MNPLS is good! and 20Ten: I like it also because of the concert that summer! This decade is as good or better than the 90's imo.

I even liked RnR Love affair a lot! Got stuck in my head, best video since....

But this stuff....reminds me at C&D...NewPowerSoul was even better

Eh, the "lyric video" is a common thing these days.

It's a cost-effective way of grabbing the viewer's attention on video streaming sites. For some reason many people tend to feel motivated to follow the whole song throughout when the lyrics are flashed on the screen, even if the visuals would be minimal.

Just consider something like Cee-Lo's "Fuck you" that was a hit based on the lyric video alone, while the live action video shot later for it added nothing of interest.

I don't really think there's any need to tell me to get my head out of my butt and leave a Prince fan forum for a personal criticism of an artist that I obviously (and explicitly stated) have a lot of time for.

I couldn't disagree more. I don't think FIXURLIFE UP is great at all. I've got to be honest, I don't even remember how it goes after having listened to it a few times yesterday.

No need to get offended when somebody doesn't think Prince is perfect.

I'm a huge fan, I love most of his work, even music that if it was someone else, I might not appreciate so much. I give Prince extra poitns for being Prince, that's more than enough. I don't have to come on a forum and lick his balls at every instance of a new song.

Also, maybe spinning lyrics is some new wild production technique. Maybe it does catch eyes on the internet. I don't care... It's very 'Powerpoint'.

I know comparison is not the most important thing in the world. One of the least important in fact, but really, you've all seen videos from Prince in the past. This is not nearly as good, or even in a similar ballpark. It's incredibly boring with a super forgettable song.

Actually, after I viewed the video again last night, I realized the video actually sucks.

It's hard to look at this, and then at Kiss or Ghett Off and believe it's the same person. Those videos weren't the best by way of setting or production, but there was an energy and excitement to them. This one resorts to quick comera shots to add the illusion of a band that is energetic. Very odd, because Prince's true live performances are energetic still.


The song is so-so.

The video is amatuerish.


I'm not really expecting the 'album' to be much better. But, again with Prince, surprises abound. Unfortunately the biggest surprise post-millenium is how lackluster his modern output is. It really is hard to believe it's the same artist I fell in love with years and years ago.
