ITS GONNA BE LONELY - Prince 1979

That song is under appreciated. I kinda hear an early form of "The beautiful ones" in it's arrangement .

I wonder why Prince let Kanye sample this for "Big Brother?" He's always a bit tight with that kind of thing.

I love how this song builds with each refrain toward the end.

I wanna fall in love. The one I love doesn't know, and would probably not return my feelings. It's been over five years. Unrequited love is a unique kind of pain, but I don't crowd and try to force my love, I give space even though I truly want to express my deepest feelings. Sigh.

I was in love with a girl named Jessica Smith, she reminded me of a caucasian Mayte I was and wanted 2 be her Prince even though I wore make up 2 be like him and heels (secretively speaking), I moved from her neighborhood and had "Prince" on vinyl along with my grandmothers old turntable and I played that song from sun up 2 sun down and this was in '96-'98! I stopped playing it cuz I didn't wanna wear it out 2 much but that song is my dearest personal poem!

Once I Start Loving U, Baby, I'm Gonna Never Stop! Never Stop! Never Stop, Never Stop, Never Stop, No!

I've always thought this album as a whole is massively overlooked by fans. To me, it's really the first 'Prince' album due to the 'Prince' persona. It has all the formulas for a prince album, the screams, the falsettos, the ballads, the personality. What amazes me is that he's pretty much had the whole 'Prince' formula in terms of his musical style as early as this era and has kept a lot of it through his career.

Although with its merits, For You doesn't really sound like the 'Prince' persona we all know now to me.

Agreed It's Gonna Be Lonely and Dancing Close and Slow are way underrated and great.

I also think Bambi is a killer track and I'm glad he's gone back to playing it live!!

And how do you think Prince´s actual first album, For You, stands in this scheme?

Man i love the whole atmosphere of When We're Dancing. The piano, the singing, the keyboard effects and especially the acoustic guitar part at the end.

Also out of all of Prince's albums, the album Prince is the one i cherish the most. It was my pre-teen and teen go to album for years. Also to this day i still think it's his best produced album.

One thing i never understood is why doesn't Prince play more piano and acoustic guitar on his songs? I understand his love of james brown style funk but personally he impresses me the most when he plays the piano and acoustic guitar and when hes singing introspective(?) lyrics and not just his typical sex and party lyrics....

Like on the song The Dance. I thought The Dance was one of his best ever.

What shreeks? I just relistened to it again based on your description, and I was hoping to hear it, but I didn't. Am I missing something?
