Ooh wow, a Chaos & Disorder b-side! This is basically a less catchy alternative to The Same December. I mean maybe next he can write a song that rips off other 90's Prince classics like Da,Da,Da and Jughead. Has all that walking around door to door passing out Watchtower magazines made him forget how to write a decent chorus? This song is all pointless, self-indulgent guitar playing without much in the way of real rhythm. I guess this means it's back to playing Let's Go Crazy for the millionth time at live shows. But hey, at least he looks cool in the new pictures.

BINGO!

Song is a hot mess. He needs a real band, not girls from a high school talent competition. He's trying too hard to seem like he's not trying. It sounds contrived and junky.

I predict a massive flop of an album at a time when a lot of people want real music.

Sad.

CDS are a huge step back, the myth was that they werent and they were a step up and they couldnt get scratched etc...but even if you protect a cd after awhile it goes, and the sound still is cuting alot out of what was recorded. But theres also a different process now, studios are not like older studios, so whats coming out of studios now already has lost the quality, people are making albums on laptops not studios anymore. Analog studios, like Sound City which made some of the best sonically produced music dont exist anymore, which is why now everything being recorded is way too loud and not mixed properly, not all but alot of it, stop still now the proper ways to mix, but most now went too schools that teach it all the wrong way.

What makes you say this? I started collecting CDs 25 years ago. 99% of them still play perfectly.

AAC is not an iTunes/Apple proprietary format. And if you prefer MP3 over AAC, your preference is for the MORE lossy of the two formats.

.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...dio_Coding

.

AAC is hardly a "closed" format - it's supported by iTunes on Macs/PCs, Windows Media Player 12, RealPlayer, Winamp, PS3, Xbox 360, Windows Mobile, Wii, Palm, BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, WebOS, Windows Phone, Zune, and others.

.

Further, it was developed by AT&T, Dolby, Sony and Nokia (among others) - wasn't even developed by Apple.

Problem being that while iTunes uses aac encoding, it is in an .m4a conatiner for purchased audio that isn't supported by a lot of other platforms.

Thanks, but I'll be happy to speak for myself. Your previous post about AAC being "iTunes proprietary bull" is what I was responding to as being incorrect.

As for the m4a container, it's supported by plenty of audio apps/devices:

Windows:
Apple iTunes
Apple QuickTime Player
Microsoft Windows Media Player
Microsoft Zune
Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate
Nullsoft Winamp Media Player
Roxio Creator NXT Pro
RealNetworks RealPlayer
Media Player Classic
NCH WavePad
VideoLAN VLC media player

Mac:
Apple QuickTime Player
Roxio Toast 11
Roxio Popcorn 4
RealNetworks RealPlayer
NCH WavePad
Cog
VideoLAN VLC media player

If it was "iTunes proprietary bull," then it would play in iTunes and only in iTunes.

Feel free to shed any additional light on the subject with facts, if you have any to share.

Moot point in relation to this thread anyway, as the song never appeared for sale in iTunes or any online music store, including Prince's own.

i don't really understand why people even buy singles on itunes or anywhere else

for that matter (i'm talking digital files).

there's no bsides. so why bother? the album will be released shortly.

i've always liked the album experience more anyway. if it takes a few months for

the album to arrive there's gonna be that single on it that you already know from

months before and are bored of by then.

itunes should try to make artists rekindle the whole 'single with a bside' format

and instead of 1,29 they could simply ask 2 bucks for the single and a non album

track or remix/extended.

that would have made me buy this 'single' in a second. now, i'm just gonna wait

for the album.

Always good news when a song gets an official release cool

It's not a bad song. Musically funky. Lyrically paranoid. The change of speed at the end seems a bit throw-away, but overall I like 3rdEyeGirl 'sound'.

So is it actually finally on iTunes ?
I'm scared to look....
I'm sure he will perform it at the billboard awards...
But:
Where is the promotion?
Commercials?
Advertising?
I love this song.
It goes hard, it's got the harmonies, it's cool, original....
Why
All

That would require a promotional budget... and you KNOW Prince is TIGHT with his money. That's why the videos look so cheap unless someone else is footing the bill.
