itunes problematic? it's one right click and done, although a conversion to wav from an AAC probably isn't worth it. but problematic it ain't. easy yes.

On non-Apple devices just one right click? Maybe iTunes has changed since the last time I tried it, but I remember that there was an Apple "invasion" of my PC with both iTunes and QuickTime and the files I purchased were unplayable and non-convertible. I'm still annoyed with Apple updates wanting to be installed on my PC. I agree that having new music available on iTunes would give P greater exposure than mysterious "here today gone tomorrow" websites, but I just want the files somewhere I can access easily. Honestly, though, I hope that Purple Music will be selected 2 release all the new material on vinyl -- the gold standard 4 audio.

First, converting an AAC file into a WAV is pointless.

Second, iTunes used to sell DRM-enabled 128kbps CBR AAC files. The DRM limited what you could do with the songs, and the AAC was not really popular yet. Nowadays (for the past few years or so) they removed the DRM and increased the quality to 256kbps VBR AAC files. You can transcode into anything else, but keep in mind that you will lose quality each time.

One thing that does irk me about the iTunes Store: they lost the appeal of 99¢ downloads. They went to $1.29, which is not THAT much of a difference but over time it adds up. 99¢ was "sure, why not" while $1.29 is "hmmm, maybe".

digital is crap regardless of how its consumed, it makes me laugh when i see people with 100 dollar beats headphones a playing an iPod or mp3 player, really?? why not just throw your money down a hole, for mp3 or ipods stick with crappy skull candy headphones, save your money, if you doing studio and recording and using real equipment and vinyl or analog then invest in headphones but you are on something if you spend more than 30 dollars on headphones for anything on itunes or compressed to digital. Like Jack White said, digital is about 20% of what was recorded, if you went to a movie and paid $13 and only saw 20 minutes youd ask for your money back? this is probably why not many pay for music anymore.

He's played it at every show this week, which means its already been played more than just about anything he's released in the last 10 years. It'll be released.

CDs are digital. Most music is recorded and mixed digitally in the studio. iPods and iPhones will play lossless encoded files that are 100% identical to the sound in CDs. 256k bit AAC is a heck of a lot closer than 20% of a CD and is miles better than the same bitrate MP3. And for me, digital music sounds miles better than analog albums, which add hissing and popping.

And movies have always been "digital" in that you don't see continuous video, you see it sampled into 24 frames per second. and every dvd or blu ray movie you buy uses digital sound, as does every movie theater and every HDTV broadcast.

I think it could still come out. I think Superconductor kept getting delayed as well but it got released eventually. His track record for releasing stuff (Rock And Roll Love Affair, Screwdriver, 3rd Eye Girl website tracks, videos, etc.) in recent times seems consistent enough.

CDS are a huge step back, the myth was that they werent and they were a step up and they couldnt get scratched etc...but even if you protect a cd after awhile it goes, and the sound still is cuting alot out of what was recorded. But theres also a different process now, studios are not like older studios, so whats coming out of studios now already has lost the quality, people are making albums on laptops not studios anymore. Analog studios, like Sound City which made some of the best sonically produced music dont exist anymore, which is why now everything being recorded is way too loud and not mixed properly, not all but alot of it, stop still now the proper ways to mix, but most now went too schools that teach it all the wrong way.

Some of the worst produced music I've heard in the last decade comes from Timbaland. And I'm talking about the production, not musical taste.

Taking what you recorded transferring into the digital formats of CD or whatever, the loss happens right there, from day one of the cd there were incorrect forumulas used in the creating of the sounds that things were just eliminated in the transfer process, you lose the quality way before you even get the music.

it was a myth they couldn't get scratched, but they were far more scratch resistant than LPs and have none of the hiss of tapes. And they are digital, you can backup the bits and never lose any of the original quality. And you can carry your entire music library in your pocket.

It's flawed logic to point to use poor production techiniques to criticize digital vs analog. there was plenty of poorly produced analogue music too.

Yeah, they have HORRIBLE customer service (which is typical of any Prince internet venture).

I had to buy one of the videos twice because it didn't show up in my cue the first time. I emailed them and asked if I could be credited for the first transaction and I got NOTHING! I started to file something with Paypal, but figured that it wasn't worth my time for $1.77.

I also had to buy a video twice (Guitar). I never got my download link, and they never replied to 3 different emails. It was only $1.77, but it was the point of the thing.

I never had an issue with any downloads from them before that one.

I did. With all the previous purchases, I got my PayPal receipt first then the 3EG download links afterward, either immediately or within 10 minutes or so. This latest Guitar purchase (the one that worked) took a few hours to get the download link from 3EG.

It's a shame this year started so hot and fizzled fast. bored2

I'll never understand his thinking. confuse With being the basketball fan he is you'd think he'd at least understand momentum. Come on you are out on tour. Promote the tour with some music. Sell the music online and cds at the shows. Duh! Then again that would make sense.

I'm tired of being teased with incomplete soundboard clips from social media sites and talk of a truckload of funk. I keep checking 3rdeyegirl.com just to be annoyed by that stupid shhhhh sound. Sure I'll buy stuff if an when it surfaces but the excitement is gone.

Since I'm already pissing and moaning I might as well address these incomplete soundboard snippits. WTF is the point when none of it will ever surface? 1st we got a short snippit of Extralovable from the W2Chicago show, then Chapter n Verse w/ other Dakota clips, and now SAIMH from the current shows. Why the tease when there's no intention of releasing them in full?

Prince is, was, and always will be his own worst enemy when it comes to his career. Then again he seems content so kudos to him for that. After all it's his career not mine. I can hear Larry G's song running through my head, "Shoulda, coulda, woulda been betta" lol

What the hell I guess it just may give us a topic to discuss years from now. Something like "Lost 3rdeyegirl tracks circulating now".

i think we're still on track for the release, people. it's a typical prince release:

1. song gets aired on internet radio, for one day, hailed as "new single, from new album"

2. song no longer on radio or internet, fans share internet ripped audio file of the track

3. prince starts performing the song live on his current tour

4. prince starts performing another song live that he now seems to be more into

5. the single gets a release on his website or itunes, or both, or none.

6a. 3 months later, a video for the single is released

6b. or 3 months later, a video for a different song is released (yet also no audio single)

7. prince bitches about today's music industry and how you can't have a hit

we're only in stage 3 now people, so give it a month or 2-3, the single might yet be

released.
