mp3 vs wav I guess? Or perhaps a disagreement with the closed nature of iTunes vs the open intentions of the internet?

"MP3 vs WAV"? What does that mean? Do you think Apple sells WAV format? They don't. Even if they did WAV is BETTER than MP3 as it is uncompressed. MP3 is a old dirty format that should no longer be used. Appls uses AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) which is much better than MP3.

I'll be buying mine from iTunes since one you buy it there, you can download it as many times, on as many devices as you like. Plus once I download it, it automatically downloads to all my other devices.

you are entitled to your opinion. but what makes you redundant is the sheer number of negative posts you burden threads with.

should we start counting up the number of threads you burden with your pissing and moaning about the pissing and moaning?

I like the song, the overall vibe of these 3rd Eye songs are cool in my book. I like the stripped down quality, it's what I thought Gold Experience was going to sound like (before I heard it). I can see them doing a song like Dolphin. Now, where does one buy it?

So, again, has anyone seen this on iTunes or any other outlet yet? I haven't.

I want WAV files and 4 me, I'd rather have P's music in smaller places like 3rdeyegirl.com and purplemusic.ch (and preferably on vinyl!) . As a non-Apple person, I've always found iTunes problematic in terms of using/converting their files. If there's a new improved way 2 use iTunes 4 non-Apple people, please inform us all.

From a graphic design point of view, this cover art (or whatever it is) looks Goddamn awful. When you slap on fake lens flare effects on anything these days, it really looks amateurish. It looks like poorly designed club flyer from the 90s.

itunes problematic? it's one right click and done, although a conversion to wav from an AAC probably isn't worth it. but problematic it ain't. easy yes.

I'd much rather buy this, and everythign else, on iTunes. Things come out so sporadically on 3rdeyegirl that I've already lost track of what I've bought and what I haven't. On 3rdeyegirl there is no visible indiation of what I haven't and there is no preview. I don't really understand the point of having a seperate web site to sell stuff. Once they pay the credit card fees for a single song purchase, they make less money than selling through iTunes and other digital download services.

This isn't some unknown artist trying to get known, this is Prince. He should be able to get new material featured on iTunes and other digital download services where people will find it.

yes i agree. as much as i hate to say it: itunes IS THE place for Prince to release new music. he's just bull headed and thinks he can make more money with two-but short-lived websites. when the infrastructure is already there - Bowie recently used it to great effect.

itunes is pretty much here for good. if you delete your music you can re-download it from the cloud and it's easy to use and fairly cheap.

yes the quality could be better and i hate all the crappy edits of the same song (WHY WOULD ANYBODY DOWNLOAD When Doves Cry (Edit)!!!!!!!???? But they do as it's one of the more popular purchases!!!!! go figure.

I'm a Creative Director and I can say his album covers have been pretty bad for a long time. I think he just has someone on staff who plays around with Photoshop without any real training.

The photography is usually spot on, but the effects and fonts are pretty bad.

I agree. He's probably hiring ameteurs. You can definitely tell. There is no need for a man with the kind of money he has NOT to hire a professional Graphic Designer. Even if he sees something that an ameteur has done, he should hire them with a professional so they can come up with some modern designs. Of course, this is the man that doesn't seem to care a lot about anything of quality (artwork, remastering albums, etc.). He just seems to be all about how much money he can keep for himself. I understand cutting corners, but sometimes, it is well worth the extra $ for a quality job.

A better guess is Prince thinks there's no need to pay a professional when he has photoshop himself.

why, the songs on a CD are digital. Why is that any better than having the exact same bits without the the space innefficient and vulnerable CD. I've had a ton of CDs get scratched to where they had to be replaced, I've never had to replace a digital download. And I get all of my music, including all of my playlists, wherever I go.

I can appreciate the low-tech covers such as NPG Exodus, where it's meant to convey "funky" and "underground", but covers like Planet Earth are just hideous.

I've waited a few days as I change my mind about stuff a lot.

This song is very very good indeed. If he could get his head out of his arse and get a decent group of people around him, I think this could be a big hit. It seems like it was written for radio. What gets R&R affair played on the radio 3 times a day for a month and then nothing for screwdriver and I expect this?

Sounds awesome to me.

I've been using the lens flare since 1997. It's used when the actual content is thin on the ground and is the only card left to play when you have been given nothing to work with - as in this case. This artwork could really benefit from a nice Comic Sans embellishment and it's done.

Still not available on iTunes. Nothing by song in alphabetical order under Prince, nothing under the song title, nothing under 3rdeyegirl.

I think it's safe to change the topic header at this point.

On non-Apple devices just one right click? Maybe iTunes has changed since the last time I tried it, but I remember that there was an Apple "invasion" of my PC with both iTunes and QuickTime and the files I purchased were unplayable and non-convertible. I'm still annoyed with Apple updates wanting to be installed on my PC. I agree that having new music available on iTunes would give P greater exposure than mysterious "here today gone tomorrow" websites, but I just want the files somewhere I can access easily. Honestly, though, I hope that Purple Music will be selected 2 release all the new material on vinyl -- the gold standard 4 audio.
