Breakfast Can Wait... Justin Timberlake's "Señorita"

Anyone else notice the similarities here?

Except if you imagine Prince singing "Breakfast can wait" over that funky, stacatto keyboard... it's surprisingly similar.

Damn, I didn't say it was a ripoff, just that there was a similarity smile

Please stop these comparisons here, and do that in the other-artists sub-forums. I don't want to read that name here again, and also that other one that some people can't stop to mention. It's annoying.

This forum is called "Prince: Music and More." I'm pretty sure that a post comparing Prince's music to more music qualifies as appropriate for this forum.

Agreed. I just didn't like how homeboy came in here trying to set laws like he's anybody. "I don't want to read that name up in here again!!" Psssh. And Ludwig, why you mad at Timberlake anyway? It's not 1998 anymore and dude is way beyond that n'sync shit.

Keep your headphones on.

Exactly. And after I see JT perform at his post-Grammy show at the Palladium, I'll be able to let you know if he's still got it. But to turn this conversation back to Prince, I'm sure the similarity of the keyboard riff is a coincidence. It just jumped out to me as noticeable -- a meaningless factiod. Keep calm and carry on.

If Justin Timberlake performed Breakfast Can Wait, it would be a monster hit, and Prince could make money as the songwriter. Instead, he will make pittance on this song.

If there's any similarity in their music, it's because JT is influenced by Prince, not the other way around, this includes "Senorita" and all of his second album, imo.

I heard it too, but it was very, very slight and to be honest, I hear a Stevie Wonder influence in Senorita and we know Prince was also inspired by him to some extent.

YES hate to say it does share similarities....

However, Prince's song is much more musically complex.

However, who came first PRINCE or JT.....JT is trying to impersonate P's music anyway...
